Watch "N6123C" the double Wright Cyclone R 2600-35 engined North American B-25J of The Flying Bulls Collection start-up and take-off from Salzburg Airport in Austria.
The B-25 is one of the most dazzling aircraft ever built in the USA. There are many stories about the famous twin-engined “Mitchell”, which was named in honor of General William Mitchell.
The most frequently built version of the aircraft is the B-25J, which is also owned by the Flying Bulls. Compared to older aircraft types, it comes with many improvements such as de-icing equipment. The glass tail of the demilitarized version is one of the Flying Bulls fleet’s most popular photo locations and vantage points. The two 14-cylinder twin radial engines produced by the Curtiss-Wright Corporation power the aircraft’s propellers with 3400HP, allowing for top speeds of more than 500km/h.
Without a doubt one of the most beautiful aircraft of the North American fleet, the performances of the Flying Bulls’ “Mitchell” remain a highlight - as well as its perfectly polished exterior, which still makes the B-25 what it used to be all along: one of the most dazzling aircraft of the USA.

My father was a B25 navigator / bombardier, and nose gunner, and flew 20 combat missions in the type over Italy and Yugoslavia in late 1944. On to Okinawa in early 1945 swapping planes to a Martin Marauder in same role for further 7 combat missions over Japan and China, passing 120 miles south of Nagasaki on August 9 1945 while returning from a mission and saw the explosion. I have his survival kit flight gear in my closet with unopened chocolates and cigarettes from 1945. Went into Air Force reserve in 1947 and left the reserves as Lt Colonel in the late 1970's, passed away age 93 in 2013.

When I was a kid there was a B-25 and two P-51's kept at our local airport this is mid 1960's, sometimes they would team up and fly around the area in formation, a sight I have never forgotten.

I am surprised in not reading One Comment about Jimmy Doolittle and the Tokyo Raiders. Sixteen B - 25s with 80 Men carried out a very daring but, successful Bombing Raid over several large Industrial area of Japan. The last Raider, Richard Cole, passed away just a few Years ago at 103. He was Doolittle’s Co-Pilot. Fergieman

Wow...beautiful...what a glorious sight, love the polished aluminium finish......I fly this aircraft in my X-plane 12 flight simulator, so flying the real thing is just a dream for me. But thanks for uploading this amazing start-up and take off, showcasing the great sound from the two Wright R-2600 Cyclone 14's....with 28 cylinders in all, from the two engines all working to get this beautiful bird in the air. Nice to see the J's transparent nose, it definitely suits the polished aluminium finish of the aircraft. Checking out your other vids, looks interesting, Subscribed.

back in 1975 i was flying one of those across the Gobi desert delivering it to a company in China for the Inda government. halfway across the desert we lost all the electronics! i had to sit the old bird down on the sand. me and the flight engineer were the only 2 on the ship. with no radio we were stuck! in about 2 hours a caravan of Kazakhs desert dwellers happened along. we were saved! the chief took one look at the old Mitchell and was quiet taken with it! i speak some Mongolian, he told us that he would be glad to take us back to civilization if i would give him the old bird! well, i had no choice but to agree. so he sent for a team of camels to come pull the plane to his lair. on the trip across the desert on camel back i noticed the chiefs young daughter, she was a striking beauty! the chief noticed i had taken a liking to her. he felt bad about taking the plane so he told me that he was going to throw in the daughter on the trade! there was no way i could refuse because that would have been an insult! so i took a wife that day in the hot sand. when we got back to America i got a job with an airline and my wife Altansarnai got pregnant. we soon had a girl. then she got pregnant again, this time she had twins, but something was funny, the twin girls looked a lot like my old flight engineer! i had noticed he kept in close contact! mostly with Altansarnai! then she got pregnant again! but this time the kid looked black! and a lot like my co-pilot on the airline i was working for! so i started to drink heavily! then i wrecked the DC 10 i was flying on the runway into a parked 747, i was drunk out of my mind! i was fired. i took a job at a small airport cleaning out hangers, it was a sad thing. i lost my home and had to move into an old c54 parked on and old abended runway at the airport that i work at. the wife's dad gave us a camel and a few goats for food. the girls all got married and then all of them with their no-good husbands moved into our plane home! i became so depressed that i am a full time drunk! as i type this i am looking for a rope to throw over one of the propellers of the c54 and end it all!
