Omg I can’t believe it. I was about to trash this trimmer because of the rattling and too much string which ended up winding around itself. I checked my trimmer after watching and sure enough I have NO SPRING. Ran to the store and got a B&D replacement cap w/spring included for $6.98 and it’s like I got a new trimmer. Now I need new batteries because they don’t hold a charge very long at all. But I thank you for this video.

I have the same issue but my spring is properly on so this didn’t help. The auto feed is going through spools every week. Hate this trimmer.

Mine has the spring too and still has this problem.

I had the same issue. Watched a video on this problem and a simple solution is to wind the trim string backwards. I know sounds crazy, but this morning I rewound the trim line backwards and no more trim line dumping. You have to manually let out some trim line every 7 to 10 minutes, But not a problem compared to the continual line feed issue. I am looking to see if a bump head is available for this trimmer, but so far no luck.

I had the same problem with the spring on his place! But I had a 1.2 mm wire on it must be 1.6 mm otherwise the central wire feeding force is to low so the trimmer continue giving wire.

Didn’t fix my issue in particular but I just wanted to note that you cut your grass way too short and you should be edging vertically, not horizontally. I’ve never seen anyone do a yard this way, it’s blowing my mind how bad it looks compared to a dense mowed lawn with 4” blades that are tight straight up and down a half inch off the sidewalk. Nothing beats that clean carved edge of grass down a sidewalk and driveway! Now if I could only figure out why mine is spooling like there is no tomorrow.

Mine still has the spring and quite a bit on the spool and doing it.

I have the same issue as well. Brand new out of box and the machine rattles the entire time and ate up a spool of line in 15 minutes.

Mines doing the same with the spring. It’s over feeding and shooting bits of string at my legs! It didn’t do that before.
@sandysue2023 жыл бұрын
Me, too...spring is fine, and I replaced the little gizmo that has to do with line feeding and it still feeds too much line. I even have been winding my own spools because I thought it was something happening with the cheap made spools. One would last through about 45 minutes worth of weed eating. Maybe a new weed eater is next!

@@kimberlyvelasquez7150 mine does the same, sometimes in less than a minute I dont have more line, were you able to fix yours?

Mine is opposite, it doesn't feed I have to pull string out ever so often. I changed the lever inside but doesn't help same issue happening!

My spring is on and this won't feed any line.. The mechanism underneath moves freely. But I have to keep stopping and manually adding line...

Also, anyone know of a bigger battery cartridge for these?? Barely last long...

As for to much string releasing....I changed the lever out so no it wasn't that. So here's my solution- make sure the weed eater is UNPLUGGED then drive a screw (half way in just top the lever top) just behind the lever in the forward position. Make sure the screw doesn't go to far in By doing this you loose the automatic feeder operation but that was the problem to begin with. Problem solved....

You say unplugged do you mean remove the battery or did you do that repair on an electric model weed eater? Would that solution work on both types, battery and electric?? 🤔
@williamley73809 ай бұрын
@@dorothyc9590 I was referring to an electric black & decker weed eater. I couldn't advise on a battery powered type, but if mine was a battery type I would do the same. The result for both is you have to stop and manually spin the string out by hand.

@@dorothyc9590 yes unplugged as to not have any power running through the device.
