Balint is 21 years old. Last year he developed Depersonalization Disorder after accidentally smoking a HHC vape. He experienced symptoms like existential thoughts, feeling like he was living in a dream, and emotional numbness even for loved ones and friends.
Balint struggled with DPDR and its symptoms for about a year. But fortunately he has since made a complete recovery. A he wrote to me in a recent email, "I’ve successfully recovered from DPDR and you were a very big help during the journey. I would love to help other people by telling my story!"
In this brand new extended interview Balint tells me all about his experience with and recovery from Depersonalization Disorder.

Very similar symptoms I have. When I went to GP I said "I feel dizzy and disconnected from reality". She sent me to vestibular therapist and somehow he found out that I have vestibular issues. For two months I believed him but when I found this channel DPDR resonated more with me. Now when I look back, everything makes sense. I have had very stressful few months and then a panic attack from nowhere triggered DPDR. Hands down worst experience in my life. Darkest times ever. I am 14 weeks into this but last week was very decent. Tinnitus and floaters are still persistent and when I get into high stress situation DPDR kicks in. It just shuts my brain down, spreads some numbing cream on it and puts a fish bowl on my head :D Anyway, I hope I forget about this soon. Keep healing people. P.S. Do patterns irritate anyone? For example carpet or striped shirts etc. They seem to be so weird, very hard to look at them.

Hey, thanks for your comment 😊 I know DPDR can be scary but just remember that it’s a natural reaction to stress and anxiety, and people experience it all the time. The National Institute on Mental Illness estimates that up to 75% of people experience at least one depersonalization / derealization episode in their lives. It's part of your brain's natural defence mechanism and usually it only lasts a few seconds or minutes at a time. It's only when it's focused on as a separate problem (feeling like you're going crazy / in a dream etc) that it can turn into a feedback loop with the anxiety that caused it in the first place. But no matter what caused it or how long you've had it, you can always switch it off completely by stopping that anxious feedback loop. Make sure to carefully read through all the articles and info on my website at www.dpmanual.com and my book The Depersonalization Manual. And if you would like to speak to a medical professional please don't hesitate to do so. I would recommend finding an anxiety specialist if possible as they will likely be more familiar with DPDR 👍

today marks 1 week and 1 day of either depersonalization or derealization I don't know which I don't even know what caused it but I used to be puffin on some janky carts everynight for about since January 21st of this year and 3 weeks ago I greened out on a cart and started seeing creepy eyes just staring at at me it lasted a few minutes because I told myself it goes away very soon I also used 3g of mushrooms and 3 blinkers and that was pretty not fun like I visited hell for an hour but that was back in mid March and I have been experiencing either dp or Dr for id say about a week now last time I took a puff was last night and next time I will will not be for a long time I've already threw everything out and got rid of my nicotine vapes as well I thought it weed got me into this weed will get me out and when I had this anxiety I was taking small hits and last night I took a big hit and started fearing that I would see the eyes again but I never did keep in mind I know I have dp or dr and know im not supposed to use weed right now bit since i use it every night I couldn't sleep so that's why right now i feel so empty my vision is so weird the after images are weird and i just feel depressed ive had it for a week and don't know what to expect or how long this will go for sometimes i just get a break and feel happy for a few minutes but comes back to depression my tips are to stay distracted ignore this mf thoughts and push through its like a bison going into a snowstorm instead of avoiding it know this is temporary and i can recover i dont know how long it will last though im pretty sure its either dp or dr with my depression emptiness and very weird vision so stay strong yall i love y'all trust me we can do this

@athho
@athho 15 күн бұрын
Sorry to hear this, and what you are going through bothers me. You are focusing the wrong focus: You are dividing your focus into two parts, half on life and the other half on your thinking about life. Before you got sick, you were focusing on only one thing, which is life. You are afraid that you will be stuck and not be able to experience any feeling, even joy, so when you start to take your mind out of this loop and thoughts, your feelings and thoughts will return and you will integrate with life without you noticing it. The treatment is not waiting or wishing, because you will divide your focus on experiencing a feeling, but rather ignoring this situation, and over time, your feelings will return without you noticing it.

@@diartahazrolli9411 Yes, diverting attention to other things is very important .. ا cuz once you start forcing your mind out of the loop, your emotions come back by themselves without you even noticing it, and ironically that happens only when you stop checking if they're back (stop counting the days you have it). After all, the less questions you ask yourself and the less time you spend looking for answers, the quicker you will move on from this. So have patience and a great recovery!
