Omg! I found the DP manual a couple of years ago and it was an AWESOME Godsend. However, I continued to feel alone as a Black woman, embarrassed that I couldn't get myself together as therapist, and convinced that I was a bad Christian. I am SOOOO grateful I found this specific video. When I tell you I relate to Latoya soooooo much! Right down to being a PK and watching A Different World! Thank you Shaun for finding people from all walks of life who've had this experience. LaToya, thank you, thank you, THANK YOU ❤

Oh my God, I laughed, I cried. I can relate so much to what that girl and you are saying. So many magnified fears and crazy intrusive and obsessive thoughts. I even thought that listening to classical music was a cause for madness. Or that I was having schizophrenia and I'd be afraid of my own friends and family and I'd end up being alone. I'm so thankful I've found your channel. On my way to recovery but still some work to do. But I'm finally hopeful! Greetings from Greece.

Yooooooo. I was diagnosed w anxiety in June 2022 after experiencing some trauma. She really hit home about Christianity for me!! I had been OBSESSING about going to hell!! I mean driving myself CRAZY thinking about death, what happens after death, even questioning if God is real at all. Which I know is ABSOLUTELY not me. Just wow. After I was able to finally bring myself down from obsessing over that, I said "God is sitting up there laughing at me" 😭 it's SO reassuring to hear someone else, ESPECIALLY another black woman, talk about her struggle and ability overcoming that.. It's LITERALLY JUST ANXIETY (I'm still telling myself this)! It will be OK! ❤️❤️❤️

Hey Vivi, thanks for your comment and welcome to the channel! 😊 Firstly, please make sure that you’re speaking to your parents about what’s happening. It’s very important that they know what’s going on. Secondly, I know DPDR can be frightening but remember that it's just your body and brain's natural response to stress and anxiety. It's not permanent and it can't hurt you. You can and will recover. Make sure to read through all the info and articles on my website at www.dpmanual.com And if you would like to speak to a medical professional please don't hesitate to do so. I would recommend finding an anxiety specialist if possible as they will likely be more familiar with DPDR 👍

For me it's weird. I usually only have DPDR in random mini bursts that are more common in winter. My problem is that DPDR is also the first warning sign for a vestibular migraine attack which for me means literally throwing up and losing consciousness for a while, so my DPDR if it comes on very strongly out of nowhere induces panic because it could quite literally mean that I need to put myself into a safe position in case I lose consciousness. I've had that fainting happen four times over the last decade and I have yet to pinpoint what exactly is the difference between dpdr and migraine attack dpdr, which is why random moments of dpdr really catch me hardcore if I'm in public spaces. I'm glad it's not super permanent, but I do see a pattern of it happening more when I have other people around me. I currently see the correlation to my anxiety and I know my tools from therapy way back when, but sometimes those don't work well either. So I'm working my way through the messiness of not knowing.

Hi, thanks for your comment! Read this, I think you'll find it useful 😊www.dpmanual.com/articles/depersonalization-exhaustion-and-muscle-pain/ And if you would like to speak to a medical professional please don't hesitate to do so. I would recommend finding an anxiety specialist if possible as they will likely be more familiar with DPDR.

Don't worry, it doesn't matter what caused it or how long you've had it, you can always switch DPDR off completely by stopping the anxiety that's causing it 😊 Read this carefully: www.dpmanual.com/articles/how-long-does-depersonalization-last/

With the eye problems, what if my eyes are never dilated but my vision still feels “off”
@Dpmanual
@Dpmanual Жыл бұрын
Don’t worry, all of the symptoms don't need to be consistently happening all the time. You will experience some and not others at times. And remember that visual symptoms like that are super common with DPDR and will fade away and stop as you recover 😊 www.dpmanual.com/articles/does-depersonalization-affect-vision/ And of course if you're experiencing persistent eye issues please don't hesitate to speak to a medical professional.

Hey Ravishek, thanks for your comment 😊 I know DPDR can be scary but just remember that it’s a natural reaction to stress and anxiety, and people experience it all the time. The National Institute on Mental Illness estimates that up to 75% of people experience at least one depersonalization / derealization episode in their lives. It's part of your brain's natural defence mechanism and usually it only lasts a few seconds or minutes at a time. It's only when it's focused on as a separate problem (feeling like you're going crazy / in a dream etc) that it can turn into a feedback loop with the anxiety that caused it in the first place. But no matter what caused it or how long you've had it, you can always switch it off completely by stopping that anxious feedback loop. Make sure to carefully read through all the articles and info on my website at www.dpmanual.com And if you would like to speak to a medical professional please don't hesitate to do so. I would recommend finding an anxiety specialist if possible as they will likely be more familiar with DPDR 👍

I’m going through the exact same period of anxiety that you two experienced. It’s been 3 months and I’ve been getting better slowly. I’ve been learning to trust my dpdr and accept it. This video really made me change my perspective, I couldn’t help but laugh at the whole situation this morning. Thank you for taking the time to post this. 🫶🏼

@@piperjeffrey7125 Hi, yes I’m doing a bit better. I still have it most days but I’m not afraid of it anymore and honestly continuing my life as normal is a lot easier. I think I’ll be recovered in the near future. I definitely recommend buying it it’s helped a lot!

@@winterbeksinski7060 Thank you! I definitely have good days and bad days currently and my biggest issue is fearing it. I’ve gone through a period where I didn’t fear it and didnt experience it for MONTHS but when I have a panic attack, it usually kickstarts it again because I feel convinced that something is seriously wrong with me. Hoping the manual helps me with this!

@@piperjeffrey7125 I have the same experience! Have you tried the DARE response? That’s what helped my panic attacks specifically during this period. It also helped a ton with my fears and general anxiety.
