Dear Mr. Fujita, I am very honored and humbled that you took the time to answer my questions and do the lesson I requested. I love your style! You have taught me so very much about timing, tone, techniques and dynamics ... you are awesome and your passion is contagious! Thank you from the bottom of my heart. Sincerely, Michael Storms PS- Thank you for going off on tangents, love when you do that! 🤟😎🤟

You are very welcome!! I am horrible on directions & people's names! So glad you asked this request! I was not sure the details so I asked a few times about "KEY" "Major or minor" "How simple?" So I got it. Just like private lesson. Thanks again for asking me this. It was a pleasure making this lesson. Most people don't pay attention on song forms & timing so... tend to play a lot of notes without specific rhythms so .... not going anywhere! That's why I had to play it simple with a metronome! Any premade backing tracks can hide these important parts. I love playing guitar & helping others. Just like you are cooling a delicious dish and someone loves it! What a great feeling! Thank you Michael!

My favorite type of guitar playing is rhythm, especially finding the melodies/counter melodies within and sound the rhythm, I think that’s part of the reason I find your lessons/videos are great also why I especially like the triads stuff you’ve been teaching. I’ve been working hard (unfortunately not music though) this past week so I think I can finally get your course online as soon as I’m done with this work and my buddy recovers. Thank you Tomo for your commitment to excellence and the passing of knowledge

So happy to hear that. My main practice routine is rhythm guitar & time feel. For soloing, all about melody like all about BEER! I practice triads on lower strings 654/543 a lot so I don't slide notes & less noise. Good job! Thank you!
@RobertSaxy2 жыл бұрын
@@TomoFujitaMusic thank you. I just started working on the low strings now that I have some level of comfort on the high ones, can’t wait till it shows up in my writing, however I do like sliding (but being a trombone player I’m a bit biased on that) but I do hate the finger noise. I find that if I’m super light on the string there is less to none of the noise, just got to keep working on it. I do feel that a little sliding with short distances (more like grace notes or flams) most of the time goes a long way both on the guitar and the trombone. Now I’m looking forward to catch up on the videos of yours I missed this week this weekend
@TomoFujitaMusic2 жыл бұрын
@@RobertSaxy Thanks for sharing. For guitar playing, play triad then mute all the strings by your right hand so no noise, Then you can slide very lightly over the strings barely touching the strings.Very hard to do so you want to turn up your amp a little turn treble a little more so you can hear all the unwanted noises and you can clean up (learning a proper technique) Good job!

There's nothing like a minor blues to cleanse the soul. Whether it's BB, or Stevie, Jimi or Jimmy. I've had "Since I've been Lovin' You" by Led Zeppelin on the list of songs to transcribe for a while now. Warming up with this minor blues lesson might just motivate me to get to work! Also, to make more complicated variations, are there Sub V chords that work on the minor chords, similar to the basic I IV V major blues? Is that you did to change blues to jazz? Also, love the Flying V sound and the little detour / distraction into the jazz chords! I hope that little jazz jam could be a Guitar Wisdom lesson on its own. Can't wait to work my way up to that level.

@@TomoFujitaMusic Sure I can explain! Maybe something like the most difficult scale, strumming pattern or chord transition you've had to learn. More about the approach/patience/philosophy you have towards learning guitar when it gets difficult. I think having someone as skilled and knowledgeable as you explain part of your musical journey would be really interesting. I tell myself "Don't Worry, Don't Compare, Don't Expect Too Fast, Be Kind to Yourself" every day! If this is too unspecific, I understand. Thanks again!

@@charlesgrant4440 Thank you! Any difficult issue... we need to step a few steps back! Don't go forward! It wont do anything! Go back as far as you can then you can go forward more! That's why 1) Don't worry! 2) Don't compare! then 3) Don't expect too fast! Especially smart adult! Slow down! and always 4) Be kind to yourself. Be specific what's really difficult thing? More specific? So that I can come up the video lesson topic and work on how to do on that case. Difficult scale, then what scale? How? What key? which strings? What style? See? More specific and you will get something!

@@TomoFujitaMusic Thank you so much for that advice! One thing I've been trying to nail down is the slurring technique. Kind of pulling off/sliding technique that guitarists like Jack Pearson (performed with Allman Bros I believe) are very good at. It's also very jazzy sounding.
