One might wonder if the limited amount of ammo that was bought was bought by the ad revenue harvested from people like us watching this video about an overpriced gun we will likely never even shoot, or buy, does the same thing rifles from the Vietnam war did, and will soon be replaced by the latest flashy new weapon system that does the same thing yet again, make a 556 bullet fly out the end of a barrel. Materialism truly has infected every aspect of our civilization.

@@johnkennedy2027 1. The world was going round before human civilization and its invention of currencies and _____ism’s. 2. Capitalism isn’t a synonym for markets or the existence thereof. So with this understanding; no, communists don’t practice capitalism. 3. “Who are we to judge what someone does with their life or time?” Well we are a “we” first and foremost and not just individuals alone on an island free to do as we please without consequence. To say otherwise is not only a falsity but the worst (and boring) kind of lie, a short sighted one. 4. If you truly hope that “everyone has a good time” then, in keeping with the context of the topic at hand, how is this hope of yours going to manifest into a reality when small amounts of people with more means inflate the price of ammo to the point where it’s unattainable? It’s pretty much already at that point, hence the point of my original comment.

As a engineer a reciprocating charging handle is substantially better at clearing malfunctions especially double feeds. As the operator directly controls not only rearward motion but forward motion as well. More mass on the BCG in a short stroke gas system is always preferable as BCG can accept a given amount of energy from the piston at a lower BCG velocity. Making the rifle more reliable on extraction, and less felt recoil. It also gives a external indicator of the rifle being in battery or not instead of a surprise click. It's rather odd that skilled shooters manage to shoot a pistol where the entire slide is a reciprocating charging handle, but somehow managed to jam a tiny handle (and blame the rifle for their error). Cheers

As a gunstore owner this is one of the finest rifles to shoot available today. Words can't really describe how well it manages recoil. Soft shooting but crisp in a way only B&T can manage. If you can afford the monster price it is worth every penny.

When all said and done I actually had more money in my SCAR-17 than my APC308, the KD rail, the Geissele Super SCAR trigger, the Ugg boot swap with an ACR stock, and the offset charging handle ended up costing more than just the trigger group swap in the APC. Ended up selling the SCAR because the B&T had less felt recoil, shot just as flat, was far more accurate and the shorter stroke piston just felt more comfortable.

@austingriff59054 жыл бұрын
I know! I feel like reciprocating charging handles are just lazy engineering in modern weapons like this really not hard. The FAL and G3 could do it several decades ago. I don’t see what the problem is nowadays lol
@guseks84134 жыл бұрын
I would guess B&T being Swiss put some thought into alpine warfare / arctic conditions when they designed the rifle (If they planned on selling it to govs). Having a reciprocating charging handle allows you to "safely" use more force on the bolt carrier when it gets stuck, which commonly happens in those conditions. This the reason many countries who often operate in those conditions uses piston operated rifles with reciprocating handles. Sweden, Finland, Russia, Switzerland, Italy etc. It is a boring compromise due to rifles like the AR-15 that all in all usually is a sweeter platfrom often fails arctic warfare testing. That is my theory atleast.
@zartoshis70614 жыл бұрын
Gooztr E Not true at all. On most non-reciprocating rifles, such as the Bushmaster ACR, you’re still able to manually move the bolt using the charging handle. But when your shoot it, it will lock in place. The real reason why the SCAR has reciprocating charging handles is because it was a requirement from the military and they were forced to use them. The military requirements are very outdated and most of them don’t make any sense, such as this one. Not sure why the APC decided to do the same, but their reasoning is probably the same (military contract requirements) Either way, reciprocating charging handles are just lazy engineering, there is absolutely no need for them anymore.
@guseks84134 жыл бұрын
@@zartoshis7061 Yeah but it is not just a pin sitting in the bolt carrier that you can kick the shit out of when it gets stuck. Or slam into battery when needed. Even worse the mechanism can freeze so that the handle does not even lock with the bolt carrier forcing you to dissamble the rifle to load it. The M4 for example is notorious for not being able to charge a round when frozen because you can not put enough force on the charging handle to break the ice inside. For war sometimes simplicity is the best option. You have to consider that for many nations the armies consist of tired conscripts. And with that Said there is no reason to get a rifle like this for civilian shooting except that it is cool.

The reason for reciprocating charging handles are so they can be used as a forward assist.... its possible to engineer it so it doesn’t reciprocate and you have to do something like push the handle in for forward assist, that however adds complexity, more parts to break and adds weight, as does a dedicated forward assist such as on ARs

@williamhedrick79834 жыл бұрын
I own both and would not put the build quality of a B&T over a SiG/Swiss Arms 55X product. It’s Almost two different worlds of manufacturing firearms... stamped steel vs CNC machined aluminum. Building a 55X is “old world” and almost pain staking by today’s standards of manufacturing. Basically Making a Rolex VS a Tag. Again I’m not knocking B&T products and who knows, maybe one day the Swiss military may adopt a version of the B&T APC as they get more contracts and notoriety.
