The B-wing Mark 2 is a canon ship, but we've never seen an official design in any Star Wars media. That's why I decided to design it myself!

Scale up the craft a LOT more (especially the ordnance magazine), and this would be the prefect Starfortress heavy ordnance craft. No bomb dropping, just torpedo/missile launching. By clusters, or All Out

the only error is: why is everyone not making research on the ho IX? the go229 is well known but was never realy build (the prototypes where called horten ho9 but the series production was planned to go with the designation gotha go229). also fun fact: the original b wing was at the same size as the ho9 prototype planes (between 17 and 18 meters in wingspan).

The new republic pisses me off. “Yeah, lets just demilitarize and make the same mistakes of the clone war era republic and not have a military so someone else can rise up under our nose and do it all over again”.
@skaianDestiny3 жыл бұрын
Massive demilitarization after a war is won has always been a thing, actually. In the USA for example it isn't until the end of WW2 that the trend is broken. It makes sense, a wartime military is a massive expenditure during peacetime, and all the soldiers sitting around in bases doing nothing (because peacekeeping/defensive efforts only need a way smaller fraction of manpower than active combat) could be at home doing actual jobs that contribute to the economy. There's of course a ton of other issues with the ST trilogy that I don't want to bother getting into, but the demilitarization isn't completely nonsensical.

The main problem was the demilitarization happened before they finished the fight. If they had stopped after the first order had been defeated, they would’ve probably succeeded

The model looks great, I really wished that you actually showed the torpedo magazine being connected to the B-wing Mark Two. Could you do your take on what a First Order TIE Defender would look like? Although the TIE/SF adopted some of the technology that the defender had, no fighter in the First Order's collection has the same independent nature of the TIE Defender. Seeing that the First Order actually cares about its pilots now it can be said they would be interested in designs for a fighter that had a large amount of stopping power.
J Sailer wow, I though a first order defender would be cool but that striker-like one was amazing

I personally want to see what the Crossfield-class would look like in the TOS art style, or maybe what a few of the TNG ships would look like in the Kelvin Timeline art style.
@DrewLSsix5 жыл бұрын
I think you get close with just a color shift and taking The detailing down a couple notches. In whole I think the DISCO era ships can be suitable as old generation ships compared to the sleeker Enterprise, lots of hard edges and exposed components compared to later designs. The proto Discovery from the teaser trailer is probably closer to TOS or a pre TOS design in the saucer area. Especially the more conventional windows.

I'd be okay with seeing TNG hulls in the style of the Kelvin timeline. It's been something I've wanted to see ever since they announced both timelines would be canon.

The Defiant …
@lukerope19065 жыл бұрын
Not would have to change. The bridge window would have to go. The deflector dish would have to lose its illumination. And be replaced with a copper-colored dish. Alternatively, it could have some backlighting like the NX class. The nacelles would have to be replaced with cylindrical ones. And that's about it. The basic shape could stay the same. Particularly since ships in that style can be seen. www.ex-astris-scientia.org/schematics/phase21.jpg www.ex-astris-scientia.org/schematics/phase22.jpg static3.srcdn.com/wordpress/wp-content/uploads/2018/05/Star-Trek-Ralph-McQuarrie-Model.jpg www.ex-astris-scientia.org/articles/wolf359-other.htm Someone already did a pretty good redesign which Trekyards did a video on kzbin.info/www/bejne/d2fdXmqOjrWsrsU My only complaint is the illuminated dish, Kelvin-timeline style. You won me over with this design before I was even a quarter through this video. I like the size-increase and how it correlates to a such a small shift in its design-doctrine; such as the new components and features you've put to it, and the real-world design influence behind them. The engine layout looks awesome. It's sleek, it's beautiful, and the colour-scheme compliments it so well. I myself had a crack at designing what the Mark-II would look like, and this just straight up blows mine out of the water. (Pun intended.) Fantastic job.

Love this take. It works. Love the idea of aftermarket B wing parts being sold to individuals and small operators, and often being customised or converted into something else, like the small ship Finn was flying... a cool little craft that's fast, spacious and easy to park! I would love to see a nomad or trader/smuggler conversion where the magazine space becomes a cargo or passenger module with an access corridor installed to the cockpit (it might have to wrap around the engines to get there, and look a bit like the corridor to the cockpit of the Falcon... bendy and tubular). Maybe the big cannon on the end of the wing would become a cargo pod with extra passenger space, or a detachable unit that a smuggler could jettison. So many possibilities!

I really really like this. The ideal of a magazine slot and cycling the bombs into a launcher is brilliant. A normal bomber has to return to base and be reloaded with bombs on the ground or in a hanger of a carrier. The cartridge ideal would actually let it be rearmed by a supply ship while refueling in space for a return run or a next target in a nearby system without returning to a carrier or base. Just sending out a tanker with an extra attachment to load the cartridge would let an attack squad operate multiple missions without netting up with a battle group.

Man your ship designs are awesome. Many creators over the years have made cool looking ships, but yours both look cool and make sense in-universe. Also a lot of what you do is with canon stuff (or close to it). You should get together the guys from the Thrawn's Revenge mod for Empire At War and get your ships into that game. I would love to actually use them. Looking at the B-Wing Mk.II is great, but I'd love to see it used in the way the New Republic never did!

If you want a challenge, I've always wanted to see a realistic rendition of the X-Pod Defense Walker. For those not in the know, the X-Pod Defense Walker was an alternative LEGO build that was constructed from components of the 2004 X-Wing set. The magazine instructions I constructed mine out of erroneously stated that these vehicles were directly improvised by the Rebellion from damaged or destroyed X-Wings. As a different take, I would say the New Republic put forward a project, mostly for publicity, to develop several series of limited production experimental vehicles utilizing recongnizable components of older starfighter variants, with the X-Pod Defense Walker being the most infamous.

I concur, seeing his take on the E-Wing would be a treat. I remember discussing the design and how to improve it with a couple of people on Spacedock's E-Wing video, we concluded that the engines should be integrated into the wing roots, and the wings themselves should be mounted slightly higher on the fuselage. Oh, and the central cannon mounted on top of the cockpit has to go! Perhaps have one under the nose instead.

@@StuartLugsden eh I really doubt, even though they were made with disassembled star destroyer parts I clearly recall that the concord was described as a thing of beauty with shining hangar bays full of lights and so on, I also think that such a design wouldn't make sense both in and out of universe because it's too imperial, you know I think the new republic would prefer to have it's first capital ship ever designed to be as minimally tied to a destroyer as possible
