Here is another tire tip for you! Though the pushing and aggressive steering feels like it's only coming from the front wheels, it's not necessarily doing that. It you look closer at the photos from EOS you can see the drivers cutting off the inner and outer row of their cactus rear tyres. This will help with removing some off the edgyness off the car, add some extra forward grip to the rear tyres and remove some of that aggressive steering. If it's still traction rolling, another tip is to try the cactus fusion front tires(currently EOS-4wd tyres), glue the outer wall and as you mention, maybe cut off the outer row😀

Historic reasons, these carpet/astroturf-tracks evolved out of clay/dirt-tracks. Afaik it began in europe because there are less indoor tracks and maintaining carpet outdoors is a lot easier than clay/dirt when it's raining every other day. I'd love to see more clay/dirt tracks all over the world but the difference in upkeep is pretty massive, also takes a lot longer to clean, especially if it rained the day before.

Run the Schumacher Cactus Fusion front tires and glue the side walls with CA glue to remove edginess, keep the cactus tites in the rear and cut the inner and outer rows off of them to prevent traction rolling. This is what the majority of the drivers run on EOS If you run the wide staggers, cut every other spike on the outer row to start with. Although, all of these tires sucks in durability, maximum usage is 5-6 batteries before getting completely worn out.

Are these buggies really only good on the track or could you try and bash them a little bit? If not, are there any buggy kits that are good for bashing and racing?
@AMain_Hobbies4 жыл бұрын
You could bash this vehicle, but it would be an extremely expensive basher. It would be best to buy a less expensive vehicle to have for bashing, and keep the race car in as best shape as possible, so it performs as it's best on the track. But this Serpent RTR might fulfill both roles: www.amainhobbies.com/serpent-spyder-srx2-mm-midmotor-2wd-rtr-1-10-electric-buggy-ser500006/p451190 You might want to consider a Traxxas Bandit: www.amainhobbies.com/traxxas-bandit-vxl-brushless-1-10-rtr-2wd-buggy-green-tra24076-4-grn/p1015242 Hope that gets the gears spinning! -Brett

@@AMain_Hobbies Thank you for this response. I think I really need to let go of wanting to build the car from a chassis stage, since it seems like a lot of these buggies are very expensive, as you said. Hi love your videos. Just trying to get back into the hobby after 20 years out. I got a 2nd hand set up to get me started its s 2wd Schumacher Cougar KC. I am looking at getting a new kit to build over Xmas. I will mainly be running on new ESO carpet, then in summer worn out astroturf. I am torn whether to get a new 2wd or a new 4wd I have heard different opinions on which is easier to drive. Do you have any thoughts on this or which way to go? ( I was going to go stadium truck but there is little appetite for that over here)
@AMain_Hobbies3 жыл бұрын
Excellent! For starting out, I recommend a 2WD to keep the responsibilities and cost down, plus 2wd race classes are bigger with more entries and competition (at least in the states). 4WD buggies are one-a-kind, but you have two gearboxes to maintain, two diffs, more driveshafts and outdrives to wear out and replace, and a bigger-tire wear burden. So my advice: keep your re-entry into racing simple this season while you get back into it, and save the 4WD for the skills and confidence next season will bring. -Brett

What's spec class racing? Whats are the differences between spec motors? and non spec motors?
@AMain_Hobbies4 жыл бұрын
A spec class is designed to make the racing more even, so no one has an equipment advantage and superior driving skills are paramount. Most spec class'es enforce this "evenness" with the use of a spec motor, sometimes spec tires are also involved in some events. Spec motors are usually fixed timing, so the racer cannot tweak the motor for an advantage. Hope this explains it Aaron. -Brett

For upgrades, a stronger servo is always welcome and maybe even a solid metal servo horn (instead of the servo saver horn on there now) for a tighter and more precise steering. Metal driveshafts are a great upgrade over the plastic ones and they'll last a lot longer too.
