one thing you didn't talk about when testing the glue was that the tire is broken in/worn down a little after each run. While it probably isn't a huge deal back to back for this test, it is something that needs to be taken into consideration. But yeah, gluing the sidewall and maybe a little more is huge, especially on high grip tracks. Tires do have a sweet spot where the perform their best, it might be new out of package, slightly worn in, etc. As for the the outer row on the back tire, that is more useful for getting rid of side bite in the center of the turn. It will also free up the rear end a bit more, and might help with catching a rut when on power out of a turn (lets the tire slip over some of the bumps, while still giving great forward bite. On a side note, normally the inside row doesn't need to be removed, just the outer and probably gluing the sidewall.

If you try again wipe out/smooth the outer edge nubs/ribs only first leaving just a row or two of inners. The inner ribs will grab for turn in, once car rolls the smooth outer shoulder should give progressive break-away and help prevent traction rolling.

We do the same experiments with our Crawlers tires! We bought a lot of cheap tires, a selection of good quality tires (Proline, Traxxas, Duratrax, Rc4wd...) and test them in the same subset of obstacles (mainly hard rock). Our goal is to change tire shape/knobs and foam shape, to get best performance from cheap tires to reach best quality tires when possible. Is really a funny job ! We hope you will talk about this argument with your experience in a future video...

Why not change the shock oil instead or add/subtract traction bars? Also, what did the manufacturer suggest based on the track surface? When I raced as an enthusiast and there were pros in the pits, they were always happy to offer setup tips for their sponsored vehicles. If you were really lucky, they might even give out "beta" parts, like special suspension hubs made for a certain track or conditions.

Thanks for all the useful information lately! I have more questions!! I just got a brushless losi mini 2.0, what can i do to keep the wheels on the ground? I noticed the front wheels don’t really grip the ground and it drives straight even when the wheels are turned. Can i add weights in the wheels or to the front? Is that just how 2wd handles? Should you let off the throttle around turns because i noticed it has a lot more traction and turns a lot sharper when i release the throttle around corners. I want to drive on dirt mostly so would you suggest using the rear wheels for the front too?
@AMain_Hobbies4 жыл бұрын
Letting off the throttle is the best move. These powerful 2WD vehicles like to lift the front end up which makes it really hard to turn. The best move is to let up on the throttle, make your turn, and get back on-throttle during corner exit. There are also weights available to tune the vehicle, which may be beneficial, even if only 5g or 10g worth. This stuff is backed by sticky tape: www.amainhobbies.com/protek-rc-self-stick-chassis-weight-strip-2-120g-4.2oz-ptk-8380/p456777 Hope that helps Drew. Have fun. -Brett

What does gluing the side wall do? Stiffen it up so that the sidewall doesn't roll under it in the turns?

it makes the sidewall slick as if the car try to get up on two wheels it looses the grip as soon as it is in angle to make contact with the glued part.

NO! That makes me mad Drew. Really sorry to hear that. Our shipping boxes are plain brown boxes with no lettering, same with the tape. Please always check the "Require Signature" when you checkout with expensive packages. I'll never have anything expensive shipped again without a signature required, it's a must. So I have a New B74.1D. Im not sure what kind of Tires to get? Looks Like you Run on Carpet.. I dont go to RC Parks... Maybe you can still help me, if not I understand.. I have an email out to Proline and JC Concepts just patiently waiting for them to reply.. I am a outdoor person Grass and Dirt. And just for some testing my Long Driveway... My old vintage losi xxx4 I had something like your Cactus Tires.. I got this car used, It came with 2 sets of rims, Kind of a pain to swap as needed and dont want to do that again.. One set had Street Tires and the others had Knobby like the Cactus Tires. I was thinking maybe a All Terrain tire? But what do I know! What would you suggest? Thank you.

@@AMain_Hobbies Thank you for this input. I had found what I used on my old xxx4. Just for testing and when board my driveway is big, I had Pro-Line Road Rage 1102 and 1101-00 I guess they are vintage today.. lol The Bandito's look cool for a Replacements... Maybe I will get a 2nd Pair of Rims... Future... What do you think of JConcepts Goose Bumps tire 3019-02 and 3018-02. I know Panther has the T300 a Similar tire to the Losi xxx4 tires I had.. @@johnm8558 The 3019-02 panther tires are pretty nice with a nobby on top of a bar; when the nobs wear, the bar remains as tread. Im my view as rc salesman my opinion is that. You have to find it by yourself that what is your best choice for tire compound at your location.
@er6fboy3 жыл бұрын
all true with brand new tyres, but after 1 or 2 battery packs with 'hacked' tyres, you really beg for more front side bite. We all use cactus fusions with only glue on the sidewall. You have to be a little carefull on pack 1, but after that, you get 3 or 4 packs with balanced handling. More than that, and it gets frustrating, you lose so much sise bite, you really can't keep up with buddies using fresher tyres. Your hacks are only good if you want the most performance out of 1 pack, but you blow the tyre budget if you have to run a whole WE event!!
@extec1012 жыл бұрын
as im at the time just try to learn my buggy how to drive and tune and not racng yet its way more easy to save some money just to leav the tyres and drive them from to much grip to enough and in the end bald and trashed.
