This succinct and well-produced video displays how simple racquet customization can be, and does it better than any I've ever seen.

When you measure the point where you find the grommet, do you place the tungsten tape center of where that grommet is?
@simmstennis2 ай бұрын
I’ll find a grommet that will allow me to center the tape at the point where the weight should be concentrated

what are their swingweight as strung rackets now?

hello what a great channel!!! can you help me decide, between the new pure aero 2023 and the head extreme mp? which one would you stay with? I come from the pure aero 2019, I'm looking for a little more comfort and a little more control
@simmstennis2 жыл бұрын
I’d go with the new pure aero. It offers exactly that, a little more control and a little more comfort. You’ll get a tad less spin and power but you should be able to adjust quickly.

I demoed both the 2023 pure aero and new auxetic head extreme mp. I LOVED the extreme mp way more than the pure aero, it felt easier to create topspin and flat hits felt super plush, the racquet has a great feel, however the big deal breaker for me was how unstable it was. Demo both if possible, but if you cannot, you will not go wrong with the pure aero.

Can you share us the link of tennis warehouse customization worksheet? Thank you 😊
Hello, I wonder if i could ask for your advice?, i bought a regular Babolat Pure Drive2021(strung) online today, i asked the tennis shop to measure the specs for me, according to them all specs are pretty much spot on except an extra 6g of weight, they told me balance is 32.5 mm(( accurate manufacturer spec) yet when i balance the throat of the racket on my finger it is pretty much evenly balanced, so no towards the head nor the handle.., does this mean the stated 32mm balance is incorrect?.., they also told me the 6g where not on the head cause the swingweight was not effected.. , i wonder if they said the true about that also.. the strings are Rmp blast 17g whit an Wilson sensation overgrip , sorry for the long message.. but i would really appreciate the advice of someone who knows and i can t find very clear information online.., congrats on the video by the way, the explanation is really clear and easy to understand.

Hey, thanks for watching! I’m guessing that the balance was in cm and not mm. If your racket has a 32.5 cm balance then it would balance somewhere in the throat just as you described. It sounds like your racket has a balance point similar to what they told you. Hope that helps.
@martinrosemary56542 жыл бұрын
HI, thanks, sorry to insist, just to clarify : Ho yes i meant in cm, just like the racket on this video, but 32.5 cm would be 7pts head light.. well.. after strings and overgrip probably 4 pnts ,would n t that necessarily make the racket at least tilt down a few degrees towards the handle?, you know.. whit the racket facing you and your finger stuck in the throat, not whit laying down like whit the balance board you have, doas your racket whit the same balance till or stays head and handle evenly balanced like mine? , thanks you so much!

It just depends where exactly you are putting your finger when you balance it. Try rolling it on a pencil until you find the balance point and then measure the distance from that spot to the butt cap. Strings will move that balance point about 1 cm towards the head as you mentioned.
@martinrosemary56542 жыл бұрын
I am putting my finger as close to the head of the racket as possible, touching the side of the stringed where the lower strings are, you know, classic method..., Still evenly balenced. Is that 35.5 cm balence?
@simmstennis2 жыл бұрын
It depends on the racket. Use something to measure how far away that is from the end of the butt cap.

Swingweight without strings ???
@brandomaxwell2 жыл бұрын
Yes, racquets are measured this way as a matter of course. Strings can add anywhere from 27 to 30 swingweight points (pending weight of strings), so it's good for the tech to first know what the SW is 'naked.'

You are not accounting for the change in twistweight, racket matching with lead in different position of the hoop is just wrong. You either put it at 3&9 (for example) in all rackets or you need to put it at 12 (no effect on twistweight) and counterbalance in the buttcap or in the throat
@simmstennis3 ай бұрын
Bold statement to call this “wrong”. That word choice is “wrong”. Perhaps what you meant to say was imperfect? That I would accept. The rackets are a much closer match than they were before, as the weight, balance and swingweight match now. I understand the twist weight does not match but I don’t have a tool to measure for that. Almost nobody matches twist weight. Hear me out on this though, I’d be willing to bet the twist weight numbers are even closer than they were before the customization. Here’s the logic, the racket with the higher swingweight has more mass in the head. Unless that mass is directly at 12 o’clock (the odds of this are close to 0%) it would also have a higher twist weight. When I added the mass to the other racket and it wasn’t at 12 o’clock (therefore it was added away from the center axis) they most likely became closer in twistweight as well.

@@simmstennis fair point, let’s call this imperfect but it’s based on my experience of matching my own racquets. I have 2 pure strikes that are 4 points apart in SW. I have tried two setups on the lowest SW racquet, 1st with 1.3 grams at 12 and 2nd with 1+1 at 3&9. SW matching achieved in both setups, then tried on the court… 1st setup makes the racket feel identical to the other one, 2nd racket feels slightly less manoeuvrable on my loopy top spin forehand because of the weight location. You can feel it already with just 1+1, imagine if you put more. This is my experience at least, I agree that measuring twistweight is difficult and you don’t know where the weight actually is, it is unlikely that is all concentrated at 12 as you say. I hope I have clarified my view, and thanks for making this content available.

@@mancio-29 Thanks for listening and thank you for sharing your story. You must be very in tune with your equipment in order to feel such a small difference. I’d love to one day get something like a Yonex Precision Scan or Metortune. These will measure twist weight and even the weight of the right and left sides of the racket.
