Thx for the comparison! I agree with your assessment - I found the 98 to be more direct, whippier, controlled. The 100 was great but just a little clunky, and I felt less confident hitting all out with it. Slice backhands, one of my mainstays, pop up more with the 100. Where the 100 is better is put away volleys and more powerful serve. 98 all the way for me!

I would say the 100 is still a Pure Aero through and through, but the 98 feels like the spiritual successor of the true ADP. My buddy has a PA Rafa, which has grommets that look more like APD grommets than PA grommets, so Ill be making a video on how that compares to ADPs in the future

The grommets on the VS are oval shaped at 12 and 6. TW also quotes higher twistweight and swingweights on the 98 (although we don't know what variances they are seeing). My 98 was way underspec (320 SW strung) so to me they basically felt the exact same, though I wasn't able to hit them back to back.

How do you feel about pure aero 98 vs Wilson shift 99? Is it too different to compare?
@TennCom
@TennCom 11 ай бұрын
I feel that the Shift is quite unappealing to me. I really don't like racquets have have variable flexes. There were definitely times where the Shift felt worse and more uncomfortable than even the Aero 98. I think you can hit more spin with the Shift, but I don't think that extra spin is going to win you more points.

Hey Beckett, I’ve got a conflict in my soul. I had a 100, had a loose overgrip that led to a cracked frame on an overhead. Now deciding if I take the jump to 98 instead of replacing the 100. Only been playing committed tennis about 16 months but I play all the time and really developed my strokes. Worried at my stage I still need the forgiveness of 100, but have hit with 98 in Ezone and vcore before and enjoyed. Any thoughts or is this one of those “only I can decide in my heart…”

Pretty different, most players will have an easier time with the 98 due to the weight and forgiveness from the beam shape. PSX is nice if you know you like a heavier weight and want something with natural stability, more like a spin friendly Gravity Pro.

@@TennCom Thanks Beckett ! I'm just thinking about switching to Aero 98 from PSX - which I play very well from my groundstrokes, but my serve with PSX (probably due to heavyness, however my PSX weight 338g with string, so maybe its underspec) is so weak compare to lighter rackets. I play mostly on clay, use a lot of topspin and need something like the PSX's own (for stability and power reasons, lighter rackets is better for my serve but worse for my groundstrokes), but which would help me with my serve. I've noticed that 98's better than 100's for my serve. Of course I'll get a demo of Aero 98 from a local store, but the question is whether you think such a change (PSX to Aero 98) makes sense.

So no need to choose between this Pure aero or other, take any head speed or extreme or gravity or Yonex with base weight 300g non strung, add at least 20 g of weight 3 and 9 o clock position and handle , make sure the stiffness rating is below 65 to keep that elbow safe and string tension on poly’s max 24/25 kg.
