@Suspense, Jody Wasn't Evil. He Has Been Overcriticized For Not Being So Responsible At Only 20 Years Old. It Wasn't In Him To Kill People. That's Why He Shot Rodney In His Ligaments. As Far As Cheating On Yvette, I Found Out Something Happened In His Childhood That He Didn't Know About That Made Him Do It. He Told Yvette, He Don't Know Why He Cheat, He Just Do It. He Still Wasn't Evil Nor Violent. He Slapped Yvette Out Of A Natural Reaction. He Gave Her The Message Not To Hit Him & She Did. As For Not Liking Being Around Melvin; Melvin Disrespected Him, Made A Bad Impression For His Potentially Future Son-In-Law, Melvin Still Had Those Thuggish Tattoos On, Wore Stacy Adams & Told Jody, You Ain't No Killer Like Me, Instead Of You Ain't No Killer Like I Was. The way Melvin held the gun was like it was a baby. When Jody wiped that gun he immediately grew into a man. The gun was the old baby boy. That’s why Melvin held it like a baby. It was like he wiped all his sin away. Jody is now a grown man. No longer baby boy.

The scene speaks so many volumes in the most subtle of ways. We have Jody who just was a witness or accomplice to a murder. He's scared and he realizes he's not nearly as strong as he thought he was. Then comes Melvin, an OG who is done far worse than Jody could ever know or understand. But he has enough empathy and wisdom in his heart to show him I got you and I don't want you to be me. This moment without words just by subtle action speaks so much volumes for the characters.

This was a very very powerful scene that a lot of people can relate to. Melvin had already been in the system, and he knew the same thing would of happened to Jody if he would of been caught with the gun. So Melvin takes the risk off Jody, and puts it all on himself!!! Even though this is only a movie, but that was a real G scene! Whenever I saw this in the movies some umpteen years ago, you could hear people in the theater crying and getting emotional...very powerful scene!
