I really enjoy the professional videos you provide to us. The narrator is perfect and gives the videos true meaning. Other videos from around the World focus on the bad. It's nice to see the good. I personally thank you and will be looking to make donations to your organization. I wish I could be a volunteer, but leaving the Central Part of the USA would not work out for me. Your videos are going to be the closest I will get to the Foundation. Where exactly are these videos taken? Just curious. Thanks for all of your Organizations dedication, Respectfully, Dennis H.

Dear people with KZbin monkey channels; This is what rescuing and caring for baby monkeys looks like. They love them and attempt to communicate with them on their terms. They don't try to break them, they don't torture them and they sure don't MURDER THEM AND DRAW OUT A FUNERAL FOR THREE OR FOUR VIDEOS! Vervet Monkey Foundation, you all are amazing and keep up the good work! It must be so rewarding working with these babies and seeing them get adopted and become members of a troop.

I wish youtube would ban those pet monkey abuse channels where they dress them in preemie clothes and act like they're their baby, then suddenly there's a new baby with the same name and no mention of what happened to the old one, and the cycle just continues. It's sick.

When u are holding Elliot against your white shirt during the car ride he at one point has this look in his eyes that reminds me of how I felt as I was being wheeled to the operating room for major surgery scared out of my mind cuz I didn't know what to expect everything was scary cuz it was my first surgery ever. His eyes right at that moment brings me back to exactly how I felt so I have an idea of how scared he is feeling. But I love how comforting u are towards him.

Just saw a video of some people raising vervet babies like children....ugh. Dressing them etc. the monkeys name is Judy. Is there anything we can do? There’s two monkeys now and they are calling them orphans although I have my doubts as to whether they were orphans when they took them or orphans after they took them. The older one, who is STILL a baby is now the closest thing to a mama so it’s a baby packing around a baby. It’s easy to see both are distressed and you can hear the person doing the recording laughing thinking it’s cute. But I’ve learned from your videos here, what the distress signals are. Ugh.....you guys do such a wonderful thing here. Is there anything we can do?

Hey Kyle, do you ever have a baby that none of the moms want to adopt? Do you release unwanted older orphans to fend for themselves eventually to work out their place in the troop?
@VervetMonkey6 жыл бұрын
Yeah, if you actually watch the last episode of the season (Episode 36), you'll see with Dumbo and Meghan that they were not officially adopted by foster moms. But it's not as harsh as it sounds. Consider that although they don't have an official mother, they are still a part of the troop. We don't allow them to go out until we can tell that they have made friends with the juveniles and bonded with the females. So although they may not have a mother who they can cling to, they do have friends and the whole troop as a family and the babies quickly find their rank and get on just fine. It make take a few hard knocks at first, but thats the life of Vervet monkeys, they can be quite aggressive with one another. I think the thing that is most interesting though, is its not typically that the moms don't want to adopt a baby, it seems that a baby is generally too old or has been imprinted with negative social behaviors prior to arriving into our care and its the babies that don't want to attach to a mom. They actually make life harder for themselves by playing coy and refusing to allow moms to adopt them.

Can you give a little more detail on what 'thrush' is?
@VervetMonkey6 жыл бұрын
Oral thrush (oropharyngeal candidiasis) is a superficial yeast infection of the mouth that may involve the tongue, inner cheek (buccal mucosa), inner lip region, and occasionally the gums (gingiva). While it is most commonly seen in young infants, thrush may affect toddlers, and to a lesser degree, older children and occasionally adults.
@lisastemple41426 жыл бұрын
Adults that have it tend to get it from inhalers, the steroidal inhalers. When I was on a bunch of different ones I had it constantly and had to use a liquid rinse that u held in your mouth for a bit and then swallow. Since I quit all those crappy inhalers i haven't had it again,thank goodness.
@VervetMonkey6 жыл бұрын
Lisa Stemple that’s fascinating. Was it the inhaler itself or the steroids that were causing the thrush?
@lisastemple41426 жыл бұрын
Vervet Monkey Foundation My doctors said "rinse your mouth ,u have to rinse your mouth after inhaling the meds bc it spreads around in there and causes the thrush". BUT I always ALWAYS throughly rinsed my mouth ,ya kno, yet i still had it bad all of the time. Hell ,the one time I had it ,it was way down in back of throat going into my esophagus, which is why when I had the Nystatin rinse(I had a huge bottle I had thrush so much smh) I had to swallow that stuff after I held it in my mouth for 5 minutes. Ugh. Man I dont miss that. I'm so glad I took myself off all of those inhalers . Smh..which btw people DONT do that..follow what your docs tell u,especially if u have a hard time breathing!!.I breathe better without all of them ,thats why I did that. I just keep albuterol just in case. But I quit smoking in February 2014 ,from a 2 to 2 1/2 pack a day almost 23 year smoking habit..(I was 11 when I started smoking I'm 38 now) I quit the day I started vaping. And I quit vaping after about a year as well..so my lungs have done a 360 lol. But a few years ago, shew,smh, used to feel like an elephant was sitting on my chest!! I feel so much better far as that goes thank goodness!

I know this is a 3 year old video and I’m so late with my comment but I have to say, I’m kinda happy that Elliot showed no interest in humans. Cause sometimes you always wonder if the backstory that comes with the orphans is true. And the way Elliot was reacting to any human contact, he definitely wasn’t someone pet, and his backstory was more than likely true.
