As OCN once say, they better spend their money to prevent/mitigate it. Better to be no job for OCN at the first place because of those prevention measures than being paid to do their job (fix the fisheries' mess). To phrase it better, good doctors would be glad if there is no more people to be cured of their ilness because they prevent their ilness in the first place. Same as the Seal Rescuers.

So, basically, you love seeing the seals when they are in shock? You can be assured they find none of this relaxing. They would just as soon chew the faces off these guys. The work these guys do speaks for itself, no need to add extra BS by asserting some kind of acknowledgement by the animal. It's wore out, in shock and confused.... just needs a few seconds to get it's bearings.

When I saw the hook, I want to cry. And when your partner starts turning it... aaahhh. The relief after the removal must've have been unimaginable that the seal just lay there experiencing it. I wonder how many years before seals would develop which humans are friendly and helpful like elephants and sharks did?

That will most likely never happen. Seals are wild animals and are naturally scared of humans. Land is not their element. In the water, seals are a lot more confident and curious and could have that kind of behaviour you are mentioning but not on land.

Start studying. Two of our friends daughters are marine biologist one worked in the golf of Mexico helping marine life being injured from oil spills and drudging of the sea bed. The other is in the Navy and was on an expedition in Alaska. My niece is a biologist and was up in Alaska and was in the north pole she helped rescue and clean animals also affected by oil spills. All three loved it.

I'm sure they didn't sit on their a*** for 4 years just to go out and DO THIS. They saw the need, and did it! We ALL need to step up, no need for a degree. When I am at a park, I just pick up plastic and batteries while I'm hiking or relaxing.

I think they're just scared and overwhelmed. Many animals freeze or even faint when cornered - either of those can also be a survival mechanism. Why does it matter so much to people? They don't help the seals so the seals will be thankful; they help them so they will be suffering less and happier and live longer. It's the truest kind of help when you help without any expectation of gratitude.

Iam seriously in total awe of the dedication and love for these animals that this team demonstrates rescuing these sweet innocent babies! Most animals on this planet die horrible deaths. They almost always die from injury, disease, or predators. Dying of old age is a luxury for most animals.
