It really is! I breastfed one out of two of my babies. But I also want to point out that FED IS BEST! Sometimes even with a lactation consultants support, it just doesn’t work out for mommy and baby, for so many different reasons, and I’m here to tell you that bottle feeding is just as magical!!! I hope first time moms reading this don’t feel pressured to continue breastfeeding if it isn’t working for you and your baby! 🤍

It is thoughtful of you to be considerate of moms who can’t breastfeed, but we shouldn’t have to constantly preface truth statements. If the statement doesn’t apply, then it doesn’t apply. No reprimand needed. Ya know

I’m sure you would be comfortable knowing you exhausted every resource available to try and naturally feed your beautiful child. Hence my suggestion. So excited for y’all! All the stuff can feel overwhelming- what really helped me was creating baskets (literally with those white target bins you have) with the things you know you’ll need or want in the immediate first 4 weeks both for baby and yourself! It makes getting yourself dressed and cared for so much easier when you don’t have to search or think about anything (or get out of bed honestly)!

The BEST diaper rash cream for babies is that Boudreaux's Butt Paste because A&D burns their skin. I'd also recommend Aquaphor for regular daily use barrier protection. 💙

So cute, read from day 1. Also for baths, the babies generally like their water to be a bit warmer than u would think. Just FYI. My daughter who is the best Mom ever would always ask me to bathe my grandson bc he would cry when she bathed him & it was bc she wasn’t using warm enough water & always use a washcloth. Also for the bottles u can pump and just put it all in the bottles so that ur nips aren’t as torn up. You pump ALOT, literally all day, so if the baby can drink from the bottle bc they can take long in the beginning, it might be helpful. Just a thought. Another thing to get is a baby book. It’s like a scrap book. The sterilizer is clutch you should use it after every wash. Oh and last thing, the Doona is amazing, not just for travel literally for everyday use. Going to the store, running errands all of it. It has been a Godsend. U guys think u don’t need all of this but u really do use it all and more. I know u guys will be the best parents. I’m so happy for u.

For what it's worth, my cousin is a NICU Nurse and she highly recommends either Dr, Brown or Gerber ‘First Essentials’ Bottles 5oz and 9 oz, Avent Bottle Warmer by Philips, Pampers Baby Dry (All Sizes)and Wet Ones Anti-Bacterial Wipes. She takes care of hundreds of babies and she is the best! Love the neutrals by the way! Oh she also says plan your baby schedule from 7 to 7 feed them every three hours to get them on a 24 hour schedule same from 7 PM to 7 AM -- and keep them upright for twenty minutes after each feeding (I know that's a lot just offering if it helps. Love you both! xoxo

My most used favorite thing was the Medela sterilizer bags…I used them to sterilize all the pacis and bottles, so fast and and didn’t take up space. Eventually I bought a off brand of the bags on Amazon. I did this all the way up till my little one stopped using the bottles

The knitted gowns are the best! Great for newborn days makes it easy to change diapers. ALSO, loved them for short days. There little legs get so sore, so it’s nice to not being getting them in and out of sleepers/pants

I recommend for the little clothes to get the baby hangers and group them with the age tags for the hangers! When you’re half asleep looking for clothes (bc they go thru multiple outfits in one day) so much easier! When they’re in a drawer it can get hard to find the little tiny pieces. Key is to categorize everything by age/size. 💙🫶🏼

You’ll be so happy to have a bottle sterilizer! An older family member of mine told me to just boil the bottles but it was time consuming and I actually Melted a bottle that way LOLLL. That sterilizer will dry the bottles too so it’s wayyyy more convenient! It’s actually funny how many gadgets we have now that our mamas didn’t when we were little :)

Im excited to see you organizing everything. Have you been to a kids resell shop? Kids grow out of things so fast so a lot of their stuff is gently used. It might also be a way to find new brands that you might not have learned about otherwise. Hope this helps!

I had the baby brezza formula pro and returned it! It was making my baby sick it wasn’t dispensing the right amount of water and formula! I ended up getting the water dispenser and love it!!

Tell me why my first initial thought for the baby name was “Arrow”? Hahaha. I didn’t have many friends to confide in or relate to while I was pregnant so watching you guys go through it with so much honesty and uncertainty is comforting (since it is more realistic). I breast fed both mine but I will say I pumped at the same time and when my youngest was 3 months I had to have emergency surgery to remove my gallbladder I had fed him bottles some but not much so when I had the surgery everyone had trouble getting him to eat but I had no problem so I would say to fed a bottle some just in case but if he eats from a bottle pump at the same time or after that way you keep producing milk

Congratulations guys!! Julia, just wanna give you a tip. If you decide you don’t want to breastfeed. Cabbage leafs! Get a head of cabbage, put it in the fridge & then when you’re ready to use, pull the top layer off, then use the under layers to put in your bra. It helps a lot!!

Just food for thought.... but baby will take room temp or cold bottles. It's what you give them they get used to so I would ditch the bottle warmer deal but definitely whatever y'all choose will go, just an idea so that baby isn't picky about how he takes his milk!

If you haven't taken the Taking Cara Babies online class for newborns, do it. It's my #1 recommendation for any mom. My newborn experience was an absolute honeymoon phase because of how well my daughter slept. And because she slept so well, she was so happy when she was awake (and still is!). My friends all recommended the TCB class to me and I'm so thankful I listened to them. The TCB Instagram is really helpful too!! My second baby is due in September and I'll be retaking the class just to refresh myself.

youll figure it out and get the hang of it, don't let it stress you out.. its a lot of work. I recommend seeing a lactation consultant and helped me tremendously when I was having trouble with low milk supply.. I currently breastfeed and then top off with formula for mine because of weight gain.
