Great tutorial Mark. Noticed that water in some of your tanks turned green, possibly from Dead shrimp powder. It happened to me as well, but normally in a new setups and I know it's a bit annoying. The water first turns cloudy then in a few days gets green. I fixed it by adding a filter with UV light. I even bought two of them just cheap internal ones from Amazon. It will clear the water from green in a few days but then it will be still clowdy and if you run the filter for another week or two it will clear it completely. If you remove the filter earlier it might gets green again. If you leave them like that it might go away by itself but it can take months. Normally once it is cleaned it shouldn't happen again unless you overdose DSP. I spoke with Tai Cheng about that he said yes it can happen in the beginning he suggested to reduce dosage of powder, reduce amount of light, reducing feeding and do a large water changes then it should go away. You can try this instead of UV filter but I prefer UV it works all the time and don't need to change a lot of water. Good to see your new video btw. Keep it up!

yeah its happened in a few tanks, I just let it run its course and it clears itself eventually, dead shrimp powder is great by the way thank you for putting me on to it. 👍

basically the same as a water change system, great work Mark.
@douggiles76477 ай бұрын
I just clamp the inlet side an inch or 2 below the water level, that way even if I totally forget it either won't be enough to overflow or at the cery least will stop before much hits the floor but that hasn't happened yet thankfully. And it's way cheaper and easier than sourcing and setting up a float-valve.

i use a plastic cup (500ml) with a needle hole on the bottom, i let it float and the water will go in really slowly (like drip acclimatation), so no problem if you forgot ;)

A bit off topic - just wanted to ask a question under newest video. Have You tried to crossbreed Black Boas with Red Boas ? Can we expect new colour variations?
@MarksShrimpTanks7 ай бұрын
Ihave not had boas but to answer your question Black in the dominate gene in shrimp keeping so you will always get more black and occasionally the odd red.

" it's always good to have more than one " !! That's true for many things , but it's not that easy to fill your shoe's , and no matter how many people have tried I'm sure they too realized that they were not even capable and they have missed you too ! KZbin is a great place to get the help with many, almost every time I have a to do or no clue " What Would Mark Do" .???????????????? I'm going to guess that you have more subs that found your channel when they were having a Shrimp Shituation and we've all been there before, temporarily handicapped from not being able to find the answer to whatever it may be. I'm guilty of committing more than a few things that I have been doing something with water and just got distracted with something else and it really is not going to be always solved by a smartass setting a timer . No the truth is that we are all capable of the best results from the beginning to the end but realistically I know everyone has been stuck on stupid and then the only thing that makes sense is that we can look for the ways to avoid it from happening again, and I just wanted to say thank you Mark for always sharing the best advice and hopefully you are doing great in your new home and most importantly you have achieved the BALANCE of all the things that are going on inside and out ☯️

Couldn't you just set the air stone inlet at a certain depth in the tank (guessing volume in gallons % based on the size of your tank) so the siphon would stop when the tank got lower? Then all you really need is the clamp and a knot in the airline tube to adjust drip speed.
@MarksShrimpTanks7 ай бұрын
Yeah that would work, thats probably a better idea than mine 😂

yes its pretty good, I am adding a match heads worth of powder in every tank daily, if there is too much algae I just dont add so much, you can see it in the tanks in this video, some tanks even have green water from it. 😂
