That's one sided though, that's something only the mainstream audience say. Kids maybe don't but teenagers do. I've always said MJ carries your childhood, Prince carries you from your young adult years & musician children actually steer more towards Prince. Where as a mainstream artists steer more towards MJ even though Prince did as well. It's not that complex lol. MJ inspired more mainstream artists, Prince inspired musicians. Lil uzi vert, snoh allegra, h.e.r. , young thug, Swae lee, Janelle Monae, all said they're deeply inspired by Prince. I'm in my mid 20's and i love them both!

I discovered Michael Jackson in the last few years of his life as a kid in 2006 I was playing with toys in my grandma’s living room and I heard Billie Jean playing in her room for the first time I walked in her room and I saw him dancing during the Motown performance I believe I couldn’t take my eye off the screen everything about him amazed me I had no idea what I was watching but I liked it. After that day I had my grandma take me to good will and I grabbed a bunch of his performance tapes and started collecting them after school everyday I use to come home and watch his tour performances all day long.😭💯

Why do people act like Michael Jackson didn’t write music,that he did not play any instruments, and that he didn’t have talent for arranging music. If you listen to any of his interviews and even his brothers they talk about how Michael saw the song in his head and how everything was post to go before the music was put down. Yes Michael used other writers and produces but that what make him great. He wasn’t afraid to try different types of music and to collaborate with other people and that’s why Michael songs are timeless. They are both geniuses and people need to stop comparing them because they had two different music styles and Michael grew up in the industry from a younger age than prince working with some of the greatest writers, musical artist, and produces of all time so therefore he had a different perspective on music then Prince. Michael knew how to use what was given to him and make it his own, it doesn’t matter if he wrote the song or not someone else did. Once Michael did that song it was his song and no one could do that. On Michael songs you can feel his emotions in his songs. You can feel him through his music vs Prince not all his songs are for everybody and you can’t feel his emotion on all his songs . You can on Purple Rain and some of the ballots. But vocally Michael had more range but like I said you can’t compare the two because they did two different genres of music . Michael from the age he debuted until he died did every type of music from R&B, soul, to what they consider pop to rock ‘n’ roll. Micheal title should be the king of all music not just pop because his music is not really pop music he had the larger crossover of any artist any country you go to knows who Michael Jackson is.

Exactly. People discredit him because he hired people to play most of the instrumentation, but producers ALWAYS talked about how they barely had to do anything with him because everything was pretty much done. There’s numerous songs where he’d composed everything on it. Every instrument. Playing it or not, that isn’t even common among the greats of the greats. He’s sing every note of every chord and sing the drums through beatboxing and do it like no one else.

I remembered as a young teen we would hear that MJ was going to be giving a special on his new music video or an appearance televised and we would be outside and right before the show appeared on tv we would make b-line in the house to watch his performance!! Agreed. As a singer and musician, you will understand Michael and Prince were two different entertainers and genres of music. Prince's falsetto voice and playing multiple instruments captured a musicians ear. Michael was a true entertainer on a different level because his voice was also very melodic, his rifts were original and his dance moves were phenomenal. He could capture an audience by those things alone. Both excelled at music but on different levels.Loved Prince's music but was more drawn to Michael. To me the difference is the “It” Factor! MJ has a different type of Aura and charisma to him! TIL this day I’ve never seen that many people in an Audience pass out and faint and have to be carried out just from his presence. He popped up from the ground didn’t say a damn word and women start fainting. 🤣🤣🤣 what a waste of tickets and transportation. 🤣🤣 Closest I’ve seen to that was the Travis Scott incident and we know they wasn’t passing out from his presence or performance.
