This is just my two cents and I’m a nobody: I’m more inclined to believe that the rivalry was just for public influence, and in reality, those two were good friends. The things that they were both upset with each other over were just so small and childish. it’s either that they were secretly friends, or the rivalry was kind of a love-hate situation like that between siblings. I’ll never believe that either of the two truly maliciously dislike each other.

The only ace you play against MJ versus Prince is his ability to play multiple instruments right? You forget that the voice is the only instrument a singer owns that others can never paid for. You can pay musicians to play instruments to your vocals but you cannot pay them to sing like you. MJ could play the piano but felt it was not a necessity because he liked to dance. You can sing and dance at the same time but you can't play the guitar and piano and dance at the same time. It spoils the optics and the entertainment value. Nobody knows Prince in Africa and we are over 2 billion in populationl. There's no African countries that don't know MJ. Why? Because he is the best. I am not convinced about your Prince sold out concerts around the world. Therefore I challenge you to show me Princes' popularity in Asia and Africa which all together number over 4 BILLION or more people. Prince will remain like I said an American popular artist. I am black and proudly African. We are the best take it or leave it when it comes to music. We invented the best dancers and singers, it is in our blood so I am qualified to know who is the best between MJ and Prince since they were both blacks.

Biggest selling album of all time, biggest sold out concerts when adjusted for today's inflation, biggest post-humus earnings of any dead celebrities of all time. Most Guinness World Record entries of any music artists for his music and charity and philanthropy. Come on, guy, show me with facts where Prince has beaten or even come close to MJ in terms of the record breaking information I've listed above. I do not mean to insult or provoke you, but what I understand is that Americans don't know much about other peoples and continents around the world because America is called the most powerful nation in the world. When you make it in America it is seen as you have made it across the globe. Wake up ! There are record buyers outside the US.

I think they were secret friends. These were two men who knew how crooked the industry was so they played to it. I remember Michael talking about him wanting the power brokers in the industry to think he was some naive guy over in the corner dancing all the time but he was low key buying up catalogs and low key making moves they thought he was two soft and naive to even do the stuff he did. He was a businessman. He played his role with the high-pitched voice and tender act. Lisa Marie said he was all man. But I wonder now, with Prince literally living a extra private life, and the low-key philanthropy he did, was Michael ever secretly partnered with him. They were both smart like that. Michael with the costumes and makeup allowing him to go out in public like normal without being recognized and all and Prince with his low-key friendships with the oddest group of random people. Tavis Smiley of all people. I do think they were both lonely and saw the value in a good friendship and protected it.

Prince seems like the type of guy to fall deep into a state of love-"hate" I think they had a lot of admiration of each other, but naturally I think both were intimidated by each other too with Prince being the more intimidated of the two. Prince had a very awkward, shy almost reclusive introverted side early on, when MJ was already polished while he was still elementary age. Having someone has well put together ans seasoned as MJ as your "competitor" in the industry, naturally will have it's effects. When MJ died I imagine he felt a lot of deep complex emotions.
