even though demi doesn't have many finished self written songs, they have co written 80% of their discography since the very beggining and many of the songs start out as their self written poems. I've always admired them so much for that because they were out here writing such mature lyrics at 15/16, it's insane. Not also that but it also creates such depth to their projects because of the stories behind them, etc. so here's a few facts about this album: 1. "Stop the world" is about Alex Noyes, there's a video on here that explains it and goes through the lyrics, it's basically about their age difference 2. "Catch me" is about Trace Cyrus, there's a video that shows it being about Alex DeLeon and him thinking that too, but in an interview in 2014 Demi debunked that and giggled about it being about the guy they started dating right after aka Trace 3. After they broke up, Trace Cyrus started dating a girl who looked just like Demi so in a soundcheck while performing "Everytime you lie", Demi changed the lyrics to "how long is it gonna take for you to see she looks like me", the shade, you can find the video here on yt 4. Demi wrote two songs with John Mayer for this album, "World of chances" and "Shut up and love me" which disney didn't allow them to realease on the album along with "For the love of a daughter" because they were too mature and both "World of chances" and "For the love of a daughter" are about Demi's birth father. Demi only later released FTLOAD on Unbroken, they rewrote it and changed it a little bit, you can find the original hwga version here on yt. "World of chances" is about their internal war in their relationship with their birth father and his mental illnesses, Demi feeling like they had the obligation and could finally get him help but him not wanting help, not calling them and the hurt they put them through as a child 5. "Remember December" is either about Alex Noyes or Trace, but I think it's about Trace, on a livestream Demi explained the song by saying it was about their ex lover listening to what other people say "or their band members" aka their band members warning them about the age difference and them surrendering and breaking up 6. There's rumours about Solo being about Taylor Lautner, it's clearly about an actor because of the lyrics "without a script your game is lacking/why don't you just stick to acting", there's a twilight reference in the lyrics, and the "thought you could get to my best friend", Taylor was also rumoured to have a thing with Selena at the time, so it might be about that. Also fun story, after Demi and Joe broke up, while performing this song live Demi changed the lyrics to "why don't you just stick to tambourine" reference to joe playing tambourine. In conclusion, 16 year old demetria was on these guys' necks, as they should

Yes! Demi WRITES her songs, and some of them they co write, and sure, some of them was not wrote by them! Demi worked a lot with CO WROTES but most of the songs was they who started writing, the lyrics are just too personal, and for the two first albums they have to do it almost by themself, DF demi WROTE almost everything on the album and the only co wrote that they were allowed to get in the room was the Jonas brother, so of course they are credit in it but let’s be honest? They did it all almost ALONE! So in fact demi is a SONGWRITER and have solo songwriter in their carrear! Back in time even a critic from billboard said that demi was such a good songwriter and people should give credits to “her” btw the first version of ftload was a solo write, John Mayer didn’t wrote it, demi only get a co write for the second version! (If he had co write it he would be credit on the credits even on the second version) but that’s it, just to let it clear that demi WRITES their own shits since ever! (Cause I really feel that people don’t give credit enough for them for it, and really has this image of them as a singer who doesn’t writes things) ps: the solo fact it’s just the TEA! Hahaha I love it and people have no ideia of it just kill meee “ask Taylor”

There’s a song called for the love of a daughter that was supposed to be in this album but it was too mature for Disney so Demi released it on unbroken but with a pop arrangement. You can find the original pop rock version if you search for the love of a daughter (demo).

Wanna know the tea? “Solo” was actually for TAYLOR LAUTNER “But in the twilight it's so hard to see What's wrong for me” “You thought that you could get to my best friend Without a script your game is lacking i can't believe I fell for this” so the “ask Taylor” was actually to LAUTNER not SWIFT cause he started dating selena while was still trying to be with demi! so of course she was mad, and jealousy! Two outtakes worth of talking about/hearing are Shut Up and Love Me, which is a great love track, and For the love of a daughter (which you will hear the reworked version on unbroken). The HWGA version of it has a more rock and angry vibe, and was deemed too mature to be released on this album.

Thanks for doing these reactions! I totally get your reaction to Catch Me. It is incredibly beautiful but has lines that are surprisingly sad and honest to have been written completely by a 16 year old. There are so many references to fear of loving someone and fear of abandonment on this album but none that state is explicitly as it is on Catch Me. I mean that line "I can't get my hopes too high because every Hello ends in Goodbye" is a killer. There's a great bonus track on DEMI called "I Hate You Don't Leave Me" that takes this song even further and is just gorgeous that I would definitely recommend as well. Also Demi did a collab with We The Kings between this album and Unbroken called "We'll Be A Dream" that's also worth a listen as are their more recent collabs with Fallout Boy and All Time Low.

For Unbroken and DEMI their team made them to make albums that sound more comercial with more pop catchy songs. In Confident (2015) their team made them to look more comercial. That's the reason why D3 and D4 sound so different from DF and HWGA
@azuben413 Жыл бұрын
I think that it was both her and her team - she said in an interview she wanted radio hits as soon as she turned 18. Demi also said that she avoids most of DEMI and CONFIDENT now other than the hit singles (maybe because of their team or cause the albums feel generic).

the fact that unbroken comes after this even if you thought hwga was going towards the confident direction is because between the "rock era" and the "pop era" (actually unbroken is jazzy/edm) they went through a lot, they were hospitalized because of self-harming, eating disorders and addiction (I feel like you already know that). Unbroken was their comeback after that hiatus, that's why it will feel oddly different from the first two (it's also the album with the least number of songs written by them, maybe because of what happened they didn't had the chance to work on many tracks). you'll see that when you listen to all the albums, everything will actually make sense!
