This is why I always thought the fight for earth should have happen before the final showdown with the Shadows and Vorlons. An the Telepath war should happen when Earth try to get Psicorp to fight along side the alliance against the Shadow, not knowing that Psicorp has been working with the Shadows for years an have a close alliance with them, well as close as one can have with the shadows. This should have been a multi species war, as Psicorp is shown to have built alliances with telepaths across all of the other races and use their ability to make fake personalities to take over positions in various alien governments. This war was eventually won, not sure how, but Byron then become leader of telepaths and lead them all into war with the shadows, which make his take over of babylon 5 and demand for a home world all the more believable.

@girlgarde3 жыл бұрын
I would've preferred it if Sheridan and Clark had a face to face confrontation via viewscreens where they accuse each other of betraying Earth and where Sheridan points out that Clark's lust for power nearly got Earth blown to pieces by the Vorlons as they were going to wipe out all planets that had Shadow influence, including Earth....
@ghfun13 жыл бұрын
@@girlgarde this scene could never happen bc Clark isn’t rational character,he is dictator like others in history. who is power grabbing and his way is the only way and who cares what he is doing to earth in the end.the threat of vorlons destroying earth would never bother him, like hitler.
@girlgarde2 жыл бұрын
@@ghfun1 But if the Vorlons blew up Earth and wiped out Humanity, Clark would be dead too or at least not have a star nation to rule over. Of course, he didn't know any of this and even if he did, Clark would likely blame Sheridan for Earth getting destroyed somehow. Heck, he likely would've accused Sheridan in my story idea of almost getting Earth blown up by the Vorlons by acting against the Shadows. Basically, it would've been an epic verbal showdown between two men with radically different visions on what they want Humanity to be even IF the whole "Earth would've gotten blown up by the Vorlons" thing never gets mentioned. It would've been George Washington vs Adolf Hitler basically.

I've just realised what the opening violin strings remind me of - it's the same (or super close) opening notes to "The Fleet Arrives" from Mass Effect 3! And just as ships jump into Earth's orbit here all the ships in ME3 jump through the Mass Relay (wait.... how have I never noticed the commonality between B5's jump gates and ME's mass relays?!), bringing with them a galaxy's worth of species trying to liberate Earth. And Admiral Hackett gives one hell of a speech there too, just as Sheridan does here. Two absolutely epic "space operas". Anyone reading this who has not played the Mass Effect Trilogy I cannot recommend it enough and it's recently been remastered on PC/XBox/PS. Even if you're not a big video game player, you can set the difficulty to "Story mode" and basically you can just experience the story, all the combat is made trivial. The Reapers are up there with The Shadows, both in power and in motivations (wait, how have I never noticed the similarities between them till now?! Jesus, I'm losing my nerd-dom). That first talk with a Reaper and the explanation of their nature and existence is, IMO, one of the greatest exchanges in sci-fi, it suddenly snaps everything into focus, just as the conversation Sheridan has on Z'ha'dum.

See, that’s the problem with Sci-Fi. All the fans that refuse to accept ANYTHING new. That has stifled creativity and has introduced a level of fear from companies of massive backlash and boycotts that honestly it’s sickening that fans have that kind of power. True, it can be used for good. Velma for example deserves the backlash. But these days, more often than not, it’s used to hate on good stories that do not deserve the hate.
@slickrcbd9543 Жыл бұрын
@@jeremydale4548 The thing is, a lot of those good stories don't need to ride to coattails of existing franchises, or don't need to reboot the series. Star Trek could just as easily used a new ship and crew as they did in The Next Generation, Voyager, or Enterprise instead of erasing everything to reboot with a new start, with essentially new characters with only some similarity to the original Kirk and crew. Why not use another Constitution class ship from the same time period and then you can have the similar but different crew. There were at least a dozen of them according to Kirk in one episode. That's when the fans start having trouble with the reboots, when they have to erase everything that came before to tell those good stories, especially when they could have been fit in without doing so, but they feel they need to use the big names of existing characters in order to sell the show.

I suppose one day some slick kid will disparage B5 the way that type always disparage shows from previous eras, but these shows often transcended their limitations of effects, budgets, etc, to say something profound. A commenter here wishes he'd seen B5 when he as growing up and looking for something to believe in. There used to be a customer review on Amazon saying how the Bionic Woman had saved the reviewer from a bad childhood and had given her her moral values. There are many such sentiments expressed on many forums. A few years ago I watched again for the first time the Jon Pertwee Dr Who stories I'd watched as a child. I'd barely thought about them in the 30+ years that had passed. But among the dodgy dinosaurs and gravel pit planets, I saw in those stories and in the character of the Doctor, as overseen by producer Barry Letts and conveyed by Pertwee, the roots of attitudes I've tried to maintain all my life. And I was reminded of values I'd held but that had faded when life got on the way. These shows and so many others like them, in different genres and decades pick up on the tradition of fiction encouraging us not just to be better people, but to be the absolute best person each of us can be.

@Tömör Bataar No, I just really watch stuff and I don't comment on something I have no idea about. Reading your comment made it clear you have no idea what the plot or the context in which it was given. Julius Caesar was a tyrant and he fought for himself, not for Rome and not for anyone.

While you said you would remove post regarding politics, this clip and this story arc is everything about politics... but it's not about partisanship, which people wrongly thinks as politics. We need to step back from personality cults and fandoms, and discuss issues like civilized people. In "The Deconstruction of Falling Stars" we can see all of that in contrast with one another.

This vid is NOT about politics, this vid is about the message of humanity itself uniting over the idea of not tearing itself apart, not hunting people in the night and not using secret police and trying to divide one another. This video, is about the idea, that people may be different in their ideas - but not using small differences between one another to say "what you say is invalid" - we have enough of it right now. I don't and will never agree of the leakages of ideas such as modern conflicts to leak and take the focus of a very clear message in my eyes. I won't have the comment section here become a politics forum.

after the Molari/Narn conflict, the shadow wars and liberation of Earth , Sheridan was portrayed as a war monger , who missed the heat of battle . sitting in his war room, bored and desperate . maybe it's the realism that made me not like that
@robwalsh98432 жыл бұрын
It's more of an example of the difficulty a veteran soldier has being tasked with political power that he didn't really ask for. It's something that has happened throughout history. The implication is that the theater of open battle is easier to understand than the complex of web of political maneuvering. I never saw Sheridan is a real war monger, rather a guy who has seen the absolute worst and expects the absolute worst, and prepares for the worst possible outcome.

Unfortunately yes. We're becoming another Ukraine. We engineered the 2014 coup and now the chickens are coming home to roost. As late as 2016 the Ukrainian Rebels and Loyalists were still talking to each other. At least trying to. Not anymore. It's all about revenge now. " Hello, my name is Inigo Montoya. You killed my father. Prepare to die. " And to my complete and utter horror I see no bloody point in talking to Uncle Joe or to the Woke garbage that he's in bed with. Not anymore.
