Great first reaction and welcome to the BABYMETAL Foxhole.🦊 BABYMETAL are like nothing else you will have seen or heard. They are pretty much unique in that they invented their own genre and nobody has been able to do what they do (some have tried, none came close). They are Su-metal (lead vocalist), Moametal and Momometal (backing vocals, harmonies but mainly in charge of dance, leading the audience, getting everybody involved and joining in). This was actually Momometal's very first concert since she had been revealed as the new third member at the end of the concert the night before. They don't just do concerts, they do whole performances and put on a show ... and the audience is always a big part of the performance. This was just the second song of the night, but they that same energy up without any drop in quality for the whole time. It is what they do - they appreciate people have often paid a lot of money and travelled a long way to see them, they never give anything less than 100% for every song at every concert, whether that is one of their big arena concerts in Japan or at the many various sized venues as they tour the world. About the song itself - 'Road of Resistance' is a very positive song, it isn't the usual "resist the machine or the system etc" that we might expect from the title. It is about forging your own road even where a road doesn't already exist, not necessarily going the easy way or following the path already made by somebody else, so if the way you want to go has never been trodden you may have to get past the resistance of the undergrowth, obstacles, hurdles and things blocking your way etc to find your own way. It could easily be used to describe BABYMETAL's own story - they could have followed the well trodden path of J-Pop and been very successful, but they chose to go with Metal ... but again they didn't just follow the same old format of every other metal band, they have done it their own way and it hasn't always been an easy route to follow. They have even introduced choreographed dance to metal, but not as you may know it, their dance helps with interpreting each song but mainly it is designed to involve the crowd, to make them part of the performance. Herman Li and Sam Totman from British power/speed metal band DragonForce did the guitar arrangements for this song (it is the only one they were involved in) and recorded the guitars for the album version. The third original member, Yuimetal, sadly left the band in October 2018 having been absent from the stage for the previous 12 months. She had ongoing (and undisclosed) health issues. After Yui left Su and Moa continued as a duo through to their 10th anniversary and a bit beyond for the next 4-5 years, supported from 2019 by 3 dancers (the Avengers Riho, Kano and Momoko) taking turns dancing in the third spot. Momoko was the only remaining Avenger from about March 2020 and was finally revealed as the official new third member on 1st April last year. They started in 2010 (Su was 12, Yui and Moa were both 11) as a sub-unit of a school themed J-Pop Idol group called Sakura Gakuin which was set up by the Amuse talent agency as a way to teach, coach and train about a dozen of the most talented girls on their books in all aspects of entertainment (singing, dancing, acting, modelling, writing, stage management, TV presentation etc) with a view to their choosing how they would like to continue their career when they reached school leaving age (15 in Japan). BABYMETAL was the passion project of just one man, their producer Kei Kobayashi, a lifelong metalhead with a mad idea or fusing metal with JPop hooks, melodies and aesthetics - inspired by seeing Su-metal with her previous group and being so impressed with her vocal talents and stage presence. Amuse was not so impressed by the idea - they could see no future, no chance of commercial success. They only allowed Kobayashi to try his experiment because there was no finaincial risk - they provided no extra funding for BABYMETAL - they even had to borrow clothes to make their first costumes. In 2013 Su would be 15 and would graduate from Sakura Gakuin (having the school theme it was for girls aged 10 to 15), but BABYMETAL had somehow found an audience of their own and were gaining a following and having some success, so it was decided that BABYMETAL should be her vehicle as she furthered her career as a vocalist and should separate from the Idol group to go with her as an independent band in their own right. BABYMETAL have gone on to become one of the very best live bands on the planet (and have won international awards to prove that is not just my opinion). Their big arena shows are spectacular, but they put on great shows every time, even in smaller venues and festivals as they tour the world where they can't always have all the special effects and flames etc too. The instrumentalists are called the Kami Band. Kami means god or spirit, so they are the gods of guitar bass and drums summoned from the dead to support BABYMETAL in their live concerts. They first appeared in October 2012 and were phased in gradually in anticipation of BABYMETAL's separation from Sakura Gakuin, so they played a couple of festivals and the encores in some shows. They became the full time support for all live shows from March 2014 when BABYMETAL played at the Budokan in Tokyo for the first time and they have been with them ever since. The Kami Band always wore traditional white burial robes and corpse face paint, but from late 2017 their robes are black and since 2019 the corpse face was replaced with masks. The Kami Band are among the very best session musicians to be found in Japan, each one of them a world class musician. They all have their own bands and projects so when one is not available another musician will step in. There have been many Kami Band members over the years, but the same hard core of about 6 musicians have played the vast majority of shows - they are Mikio Fujioka (RIP Jan 2018), Leda Cygnus, Takayoshi Ohmura and ISAO on guitars, BOH on bass and Hideki Aoyama on drums. Since 2019 the Kami Band of the West (American musicians Chris Kelly, CJ Masciantonio, Clint Tustin and Anthony Barone) have supported BABYMETAL on the lengthy foreign tours. It was the Kami Band of the West who you saw in this video. You already have some great suggestions for more songs so I will say go with any of those suggestions, BABYMETAL have nearly 70 songs now, each one different to the last. Some may lean towards their pop roots, some are good hard metal and they do everything in between. They will also mix and blend other musical styles with the metal when you least expect it. If you don't like one song don't worry, try another and it may be a new favourite for you.

I saw BabyMetal last summer in Kuopio during Sabaton tour. Amazing performance! Those three ladies and western Kami-band made a brilliant show. Su, Moa and Momo dance so well in sync. And Queen Su-Metal's voice is fantastic.

Welcome & Tak from Japan 有難う💛。 I witnessed this very performance at the venue with tears of joy, because that was the first show when Momometal was inducted as the 3rd girl officially. They held concerts several times in Finland and performed this anthemic song in Helsinki and Kuopio. BABYMETAL is the best musical phenomenon I have ever experienced in my 68-year-long life. (Before BM, I was a stubborn jazz / funk lover) We say "Japan is the country obsessed by Rock Music". The history is very long and the obsession started in 1966 when Beatles visited Japan and held 5 concerts at Budokan. Speaking of hard rock / heavy metal music, a number of bands started to come to Japan since as early as 1970s : Led Zeppelin / Grand Funk Railroad (1971), Deep Purple (1972), Queen (1975), Kiss (1977), Cheap Trick / Van Halen / Scorpions (1978), Judas Priest (1978/79) and so on. Now, any type of rock can be enjoyed here, especially by many all-female or women-fronted bands. They are daughters of American / European rock, for sure. (Many are grand-daughters in terms of age.) Uh-oh, we also say "Japan is the country obsessed by Jazz". It had started earlier than rock 😄

👍 👍 BabyMetal began in 2010 there were Suzuka Nakamoto age 12 Moa Kikuchi and Yui Mizuno. Both Moa and Yui were 11 years old. All three girls were friends and classmates who attended an idol group (Sakura Gakuin) founded in 2010 by Amuse Talent Agency for girls 10 to 15. Themed around school life (they attended regular school as well) the girls would learn and train at vocals, dancing, public speaking and etiquette, etc., graduate at age 15 and then move onto whatever entertainment path they chose or that suited their talents. Key Kobayashi was a music producer for Amuse and heard Suzuka sing at age 9 and was impressed with her strong vocals and stage presence. Kobayashi was a fan of heavy metal but believed that the genre had become stale and tired (especially in Japan) with metal bands getting old Kobayashi believed the genre needed to be reborn (BabyMetal means the birth of a new metal genre). Kobayashi felt that Suzuka had the ability to front a metal band and that her vocals and presence could withstand the metal guitars and drums. The fusion of Jpop and Metal began. He placed Moa and Yui as backup singers/dancers and a phenomenon was about to result. In the beginning Amuse showed little interest and the girls had minimal financing. They performed at strip malls and small venues borrowing clothes for shows from friends and family. No money for a real band they had friends dressed in homemade skeleton costumes pretending to play instruments to a backtrack. They quickly became a sensation (these young ladies paid their dues). Amuse saw the potential and in 2012 hired the best session musicians Japan had to offer (The Kami Band) who tours with them today (now includes world class musicians from the USA for tours outside of Asia). If you choose to explore more of BabyMetal I suggest reacting to HQ pro shot videos of LIVE performances instead of official MV's (the reason is that the vast majority of MV's use studio audio over LIVE footage AND without the awesome Kami Band instrumentals) They have over 60 LIVE songs/performances and each one is different. They are fearless exploring many genres and have the respect of the legends of Metal such as Metallica, Slipknot, Rob Zombie, The Red Hot Chili Peppers, Judas Priest and more. I think öast year many of their one day concerts all had more or leds tje same setlist with only smaller differences . As an example they dropped Mirror Mirror after their ud tour and added songs like Syncopation or Brave New World.. Especially the opening and Closing songs were fixed, so they all started with Babymetal Desu, Give Me Chocolate, Papaya and Distorzion and ended with Megitsume, Headbanger and Road of Resistance.

Wonderful reaction. You appeared so content and appreciative while watching this. Very nice job. This is a wonderful performance of one of Babymetal's classic songs. There is a legendary, iconic performance of this from 2014 when Su was 17 and Moa and Yui (no longer in the band) were both 15 and is a master class in audience control and interaction. Babymetal has been unique and original since its start and going back to their early days have really paved the road for a lot of the current metal bands in Japan. Just wanting to give a little credit where credit was due. I love the way you did this reaction. Here's a little FYI: older Babymetal videos the gals will have a lot of red in their outfits. As they've gotten older they've transitioned to the predominately, black, warrior look they now have. Or to say newer videos. You've got my sub and looking forward to more reactions.

Not my favorite performance of this song but still very good. No comparison to the live at Tokyo dome version in my opinion. Doesn't carry the same emotion, I've never seen a reactor cry to this version. Just my opinion so relax people. ...lol
