It's one of my fav metal song in general ever!! It is slow yet it is so heavy. Cant sit still during the breakdown. Su's performance was just phenomenal and she was only 16 in this. Now she's turning up 24 in december. Cant imagine the upgrade.

⚡ / 🔥 😱 🔥 So, not bad for a 16 year old kid. : ) Su has a penetrating clarity to her voice that makes it perfect for metal. She can be clearly heard through the heavy drums, bass and guitars. Su performed three solos that night. She did 'No Rain, No Rainbow', followed by 'Akatsuki' earlier in the set. That Black Night Budokan concert from March, 2014 is still one of my favorite concerts of all time. And of course that "summoning ritual" 'Mischief of the Metal Gods' is pure fire. Not sure which requires more courage. Dancing on a small raised platform in the dark with no net or railing, or following that Kami Band showcase with a solo song.

It's no accident that this was the best vocal performance by Su and the first time you saw her going solo. She does less dancing in her solo songs so she's actually able to sing without being winded from dancing. She always sounds better in her solo songs. It's cool to see her dance too though so i'm glad they do both.

The Kami Band is an exceptional group of session musicians and specifically handpicked for Babymetal. They individual talent is something to behold. Excellent reaction, excellent research too, you got the meaning of the Rondo and the lyrics spot on. The quiet part you thought might be effects - in some performances that may well be playback or effects, but in some (including this one I believe) it is actually a technique Su is employing (as described by a musician in another reaction to this song) where she presses the mic against her nose and sings across rather than directly into it.

Dicodec reacted to this, and mentioned the singing technique, but so far I haven't seen any singing/vocal coaches react to it.... Any chance you still got the link?

KAMI BAND Members here in Solo Order: Leda - Blue Guitar Takayoshi - Gold Guitar BOH - Bass Hideki - Drums Unfortunately Babymetal now has basically put the band to the back ( Their Management) . No more solo intros, wear mask to hide identity, and at big concerts (in Japan) you can barely can see them.

Yeah, Amuse pushing the kami band into the background is what I like least about the later Babymetal concerts. The masks are such an insult. And it's a weird move as well. The band really helped legitimize the group in the early days, and as soon as fans started getting to know the musicians, they (the kami band) get punished for it. I know that the official line is that Babymetal is only Su and Moa, but I don't understand what they think they will gain by hiding all these amazing musicians in the background. And that goes for the western kami band as well. Assuming that there is a good reason not to take the eastern kamis on the full tour, then I don't have any problems with there being two bands. They are all amazing. Although I do suspect that splitting it that way is just another way for Amuse to put the band in their place. To let them all know that they are all replaceable.

@@egodreas Yes you are very correct. While the girls are talented in their own way. If it was not for a real band.. They would of been one and done.. It is over 10 years later and the girls are women now. Even if all the avengers are bigger than them lol . But if you even seen what happened this year.. Opening 2021 at Budokan on Mikio's Bday.. Takayoshi was using Mikio's guitar.. I seen fan cams of the show.. I couldn't even see the band. Looks like they had them in the corners or on the floor around the stage. This video was about the time they ended Kami solos. By the end of 2017 at Hiroshima (Mikio's last concert) they already had them in dark outfits which blended in with their assigned areas. Now they don't even get any camera time during video shoot. As for the West kami's.. I know they have talent.. but they stand their like boring statues. But then again, they are true session studio players and the Starwars band they are in started as a joke that caught momentum. The only one with character is the drummer Anthony Barone who drums like machine drum and changes band like underwear. But like I said.. 10 + years, which is a long run.. It will run it course. Wish them all the best.

Great reaction! In this video, Su is just 16 years old performing at the famous Budokan arena in Japan. The Budokan is prestigious to the Japanese like Madison Square Garden is to us Americans. BABYMETAL were the youngest band/artists to perform there at the time. The Beatles, Ozzy, Cheap Trick, and Bob Dylan have performed there too. She has such a commanding presence that you forget that she is a tiny girl on that stage, at just 5ft -1inch (155cm) tall. She may look like a tiny mortal, but she is a giant beast on stage. I once read a commenter say that this song perfectly describes his/her experience with depression. This is one of their darker songs. Of the 50+ BABYMETAL songs, Su's solo songs have more depth lyrically. BABYMETAL concerts like these, especially the ones in Japan, are about 1.5+ hours long, and because the girls go hard on every song, the other two girls, Moa and Yui, use Su's solo as a chance to take a break. 🦊🤘

Great reaction man. Check out when Su-Metal goes into her quiet portion where it sounds like she has an effect on her voice. Some have said that she is actually singing through her nose and that its a singing technique to get that kinda sound. I'm not sure if she has an effect on her voice, but you can clearly see she has the mic on her nose.

That actually is a singing technique. I've heard it explained but I mostly forgot. It's something to do with creating a muted sound or something kind of like when you talk into a fan or plug your nose and talk. I can't remember how it was explained but it's not an effect

Nice & welcome back & thanks again from Japan 有難う💛。 Kamis' (=Gods') super plays were excellent enough as a main event in the show, but once the 16-year-old Queen emerged from the underground, she colored everything differently and turned Kamis' plays into a ritual to summon her. This was filmed in 2014 at Budokan (武道館). You know BABYMETAL is now having 10 concerts at the same venue to commemorate their 10th anniversary? They are taking very strict countermeasures against the infection. They held 1st show on Jan.19 and 2nd on Jan.20. They installed 3-story telescopic type octagonal center stage instead of rotating one which in in this video. When the stage was fully extended, it looked like a birthday cake and pyrotechnics like candles (for their anniversary ?). I witnessed those 2 shows at the venue and almost died for joy.

Many people say, how can it work? However, I think you are missing 3 essential songs on this trip: Road of resistance (the most epic song of them), Meguitsune (for me the best) and Doki Doki Morning (to see their true beginnings take the official video, which is the first one they did with 12 years Su and 11 Moa and Yui). The lo-fi part is absolutely backtracked for Su. It’s exactly the same at every single show Rondo was ever performed at, and on the first night of Budokan you can see it much more clearly that she is lip syncing to a backtrack. While the mic to the nose is a valid technique it does not generate nearly this level of results at nearly this level of consistency day in and day out. Su is incredible, but even she has her limits.
