I come here when in distress and when in low spirits. I come to dream of an idealized world of art, beauty, rectitude and sanity.

El adagio de este concierto es sublime, es de lo más bello que se pueda escuchar. Gracias a Karl Richter por darnos una de las mejores intepretaciones. Saludos.

the camera work, I've noticed after viewing this at least 50 times without thinking a moment about it, is as punctual and in tune as another instrument. someone did their job very well and faithfully.

Listening to the the modern instruments remind you the reason they exist. Much more crisp and defined sound. The french horns, authoritative. The oboes, versatile and present. Throw away the baroque instruments versions! 😁

What an excellent description. The french horns are my favourite - also on Brandenburg 3, 3rd movement. Magic!

Will there be a sad day when the last oboist passes on to the great concert hall in the sky, and BC No1 can no long be performed live?
@bobmusick13 жыл бұрын
@khonas well, this is just a theory, but baroque tuning is tuned to where A=415 rather than 440. maybe people just switch it to E to make up for that tuning issue? I'm not sure really :P

Notice the first horn removing his mouthpiece at 3:23? Any thoughts on why?
@Perpetualsify12 жыл бұрын
You're probably right. Somehow period instruments are almost always tuned lower than modern instruments.

Well... that sure looks like a REALLY young Hermann Baumann on first horn, and Karl Richter conducting... sort of (not my favorite). Baumann looks really really young. There was a CD recording with Baumann and Richter released on CD in 1989, but that was likely re-releasing their old back catalog and Baumann can't be more than his late 20s here. This could even be a video from the 1967 recording sessions kzbin.info/www/bejne/sHquYYNtpd5pjrc
