Max Mustermann I always wonder why it’s not more famous because to me this is one of his most wonderful compositions. It may be because originally it wasn’t a mass but Bach rewrote it from a former cantata. But he wouldn’t have bothered if he didn’t it consider worth the effort.

@@Tredecimus I mean, Herr deine augen sehen nach dem glauben is a really cool Cantata too. I hate how under appreciated it is. The first aira is really adventurous with suspensions, the others are as beautiful as ever, the chorale is fantastic and based on the best known hymn of Martin Luther (Vater unser...). The opening is of course absolutely incredible (what you're hearing here).

His music is astounding. The voices are treated like instruments with wide skips a d with scales over the octave. Things that most composers of his time would not write. Beethoven is another doing things that others would not even dream about. This is uniqueness something others do not have. It is their genius. Bach is like Beethoven unique geniuses. Bach does not write music but he gives music a soul his soul... beauty beyond beauty. Thank you.

Joshua Rifkin recorded the Mass in B minor with one voice per part in the 1980s. Then Andrew Parrott recorded with one to two voices per part afterwards --- a spectacular recording!

Windmill Bach is a very difficult composer. I love his music but I detest his writing so difficult...he never makes anything easy even the most simple things like his inventions in two parts. Or you hate him or you love him. His music is immense. Thank you.
