Hi, great review of a great loco in a unique livery, I have this exact loco and it’s sound fitted, I have upgraded the speakers to 2 x 20x20mm speakers from Roads & Rails, it sounds better now, I got the loco for a great price and I’m very happy with it although I must remember to fit a driver into the cab in the future, thanks for sharing.

The functions may be limited but I prefer the sound of your older model running.But you can't fault detail on the newer one.

At last a good review on these excellent new toolings! I have the sound version too, but unlike you am to lazy to do my own review! also have the orig liveried drs release on analogue,. Whats annoying me is this new fangled plux 22 decoder which is required, and my dear friend has not recieved them from Bachmann yet, as i am dying to run them together. Very interesting comparison between the two of yours! I found the sound on the first one a little bit shrill, or was it just a little bit loud? whereas the Harry Needle is a more subtle sound. Im very happy with mine, and am very pleased you went through the many sound functions, and well explained too! The original one is just loud and tiny. The old type speaker doesn't help. The new ones come with sugar cube speakers. Much better

I think the older decoder was better, think this may be a ESU V4 but sounds awesome, you may be able to reset the volume as factory is set to 185, 192 maximum, may need a better speaker too.

I seem to remember on the Hornby magazine review that the horn sounds might be different forward and reverse. Perhaps that might be the answer?

I found out at the weekend that they are Zimo decoders. So that will be either Paul chetter or Digi trains sound files.

Hello, I didnt. I ran them on a consist. There is a setting as I'm sure the class 800s have to be changed. Will have a look, see if I can find out what that is.

@@penrithroad7478 I'm not sure about that as working with my dynamis. Try switching sounds and lights on first. Different address too. Anyway. The instructions I have to "reverse" a loco is to set CV29 to an odd number. So keep 1 loco as is. Change other loco cv 29 to 7. This my not work though as bachmann have fitted zimo decoders rather than esu.
