this back walkover tutorial is 10/10. normally all the other bw tutorials are like "just prop your feet up on something and then kick over and get smaller and smaller" but theres a big gap between my small and medium sized objects so ive never gotten it. using the wall was a big help
@hookznbookz6 жыл бұрын
As a gymnastics coach, I will say these drills are very good for kick overs. However the arms should be close to your ears ALWAYS as it’s better ergonomically and saves from injury. With that said, everything else said and demonstrated are very good and helpful.

Dr. Zeus 1999 before you attempt it, YOU NEED TO HAVE A BACKBEND KICK-OVER!!! ITS REALLY IMPORTANT TO HAVE THAT SKILL. Also, a back walkover and a back limber would be helpful to the back handspring but you don’t have to have those skills, but they will help you out.

its much easier to walk over with the kicked leg straight (you dont need to be super flexible) and stare right between your hands for as long as you can. you'd also want to begin practicing the backbend (falling into a bridge) with fully activated shoulders so you can hold yourself up properly with less work.

When you’re doing skills, if you know how to do the skill try to improve your form. It is actually way easier to do the kickover and back handspring when you have good form. So anyone who can do the skill but thinks it’s difficult, try to work on the form and it will actually make it easier.

When you do a back walkover it’s supposed to be one fluid motion because ur doing a backbend kick over which is two different moves, also another tip is when ur in a bridge try to keep ur head down and look at the ground it makes everything easier

This is a trick I did to get my backhand spring! So I would sit how you would do in beginning, and separated my legs and did a backlimber ( if it’s hard to keep your legs together just do a back walkover but put your legs together in the air) and then after you can do that a couple times do the sit separate your legs and go into a backlimer but right before your hands touch the ground or tramp jump a little bit. And after that when you do that you jump higher and higher until you get it. But also, after I could do it high enough, I would sit separate my legs and kind of do the start of the backbend so lean back a little bit, but then jump into it. And then after you do that and you think you’re ready to jump back without doing the backbend, you got your back handspring!!🎉🎉

You can stand on a block or a gymnastics mat folded up and do a back bend and then try kicking off, each time get a smaller and smaller mat/block until you got to the ground! If you cant do a back bend, first stretch and then try bending back on your couch or something and keep getting something lower and lower and then you'll get to the ground! Another helpful tip, when you are doing a kick over, when you are in the bridge push your shoulders out and then try kicking over!

This is a good. Although I will say this might be more useful for those who actually have a little bit of flexibility or are working on it. In 2006 I remember working on getting my back handspring kip up. Which is shorter in distance from your feet to your hands to the ground but just as intimidating. Especially since I had no flexibility whatsoever. However, once I was able to get over that fear and managed to throw my HANDS FIRST and catching myself I was able to land my first back handspring on my first try. It worked for me while working on my kip ups using my mother's queen size bed. From the floor to the mattress since it sat high above the floor. As pigmie said, there is many ways to work this. I never had the amount of back bend flexibility to do it his way but what you will find difficult is if you don't have back and waist flexibility is trying to do multiple back springs. Especially if you want to do them faster. So work your back bends, work your waist and work your leg flexibility both side and front for splits. This will make it easier.
