At Rock Hill Farm and Homes we upload new videos at least 3 times per week, about our 20 Acre hobby farm, our John Deere 2038R compact tractor and other equipment, and the businesses that we run.
These businesses include a manufacturing operation, a Christmas tree farm, real estate investing, a lawn care business, and an online retail store. I demonstrate how I am able to use these ventures to earn a good living without a traditional job.
We have some cool toys and always think outside the box on our little homestead so come along for the ride.
You can expect new videos from us every other day, usually around 8 AM.

I really appreciate the "I'm a newer operator, not perfect, still learning" honesty approach. It very real feel/struggle to it. You don't know what you don't know and we lean as we go. Thanks!

Nice demonstration. I hope to trench a drain with my front hoe bucket this summer. Looks like you bent the corner tooth on the front hoe bucket - any idea what did that?
@khtractors
@khtractors 3 жыл бұрын
Can you mount the front bucket offset to one side on the frame for better visibility? Probably wouldn’t want too for digging stumps because of twisting the loader but in dirt it should be fine.

I ordered the jacket off of a Facebook ad. Loved the look of it but it was cheaply made and didn’t hold up The trench I dug next to the building in this video worked much better than expected. It didn’t wash out and still keeps that area drained Thanks for watching

You are 100% right. I would love to have a backhoe would I use it enough to justify the cost??? Could I use a stump bucket absolutely. Is renting a pain sometimes? Yes. Dose weather and equipment availability hinder your projects? I believe it dose affect your time and projects. The pros and cons are almost endless with equipment. Good video sir.

Good info, I was wondering how that attachment would work on the front of my tractor, this helped me understand the challenge I may face...thank you....if that were my shop I would have moved that retaining wall back away from the shop about 6 foot, that way you could backfill against the shop and have your trench further away from that concrete pad, digging that close to that slab is asking for trouble, your taking away the base support of the edge of that slab....be careful driving on that edge of the slab now....she may crack/ break off...good luck 😁

Yeah, I didn’t put this building up, but it’s my problem now. The really surprising thing from this video is that trench I started next to the building is still draining perfectly a year later I have a lot of hours on the stump bucket now. Great tool. In terms of trenching, it’s best for short/ shallow trenches Thanks for watching

I wonder if a skidsteer backhoe attachment would work on a tractor. There is one for sale in my area and he is selling it for a decent price. I might just bite the bullet and order the attachment from the dealer idk it's a thought.
@RockhillfarmYT
@RockhillfarmYT 2 жыл бұрын
I think it would work. But I would also think you need a bigger tractor than Mine to actually use it

@@RockhillfarmYT I think your right my tractor is a 25 horse 3 cylinder diesel I think I’ll look into one from my local dealer. I like that front hoe bucket to I can see myself using that quite a bit on the homestead.

I find myself wanting to tell you Man you are really overloading your small equipment. But as a cheap farmer myself I understand we have what we have to work with and we must do it with that. I recently upgraded to a 50 horse Kabota. Prior to that all we had was a 1948 model case 26 hp with no attachments at all. So I understand trying to dig a trench with the stump bucket and other things. Do all you can and learn from it.

You could add a bolt on cutting edge to the stump bucket to give it more rigidity and last longer.

I found myself wondering if they make (or you could adapt) a "trencher" attachment, or maybe what I think is called a "middle-buster", that could attach to that Artillian frame. That way it would just divert the dirt/mud to the side of the newly formed trench, and you wouldn't have to pick up, move away, drop, move back, pick up, etc. (Am I making sense here?) In fact, for that long trench beside the road you're going to dig, wouldn't a rear middle-buster be more efficient, even if you then have to finish up with another implement? I do like the way you're thinking outside the box, though. Another interesting video - thanks for posting!
@RockhillfarmYT
@RockhillfarmYT 3 жыл бұрын
I have a friend who has a middle buster that I could use. I don't think it really goes deep enough for that trench because I want it to install a French drain pipe in it
@timsawyer7443
@timsawyer7443 3 жыл бұрын
@@RockhillfarmYT OK. I've only seen a couple of videos of people using them, but I thought they went deeper than your fronthoe. But then maybe you said you were going to use your backhoe for that (the long trench beside the road), though it seems like that would take a LONG time, having to move, reset, dig, move, reset, dig, etc. That's why I was wondering about another type of attachment, though I'm definitely not experienced or knowledgable enough to know what would work best. I look forward to seeing what you end up using and how you get it done! Thanks.
