I can't help but remember this song from back in 2011 when my aging mother was in her last days at a nursing home. I visited her every day and on this one the ladies were having Karaoke and my mom was sitting there with them. They were singing old songs from their era and asked if I wanted to sing one. I scrolled through the songs and the only one I saw that I was familiar with was this one. I selected it and did my best to sing along. I was surprised as I read the words, not realizing when I began that they were so strange. Here I was singing it to a group of women in their eighties. This hauntingly beautiful song was what I sang to my mother a week or two before she passed away, and now I will never forget it. In fact, it brings tears to my eyes now when I hear it.

@@shaykatz5648 Yes, every time I hear that song. It is a melancholy song and a melancholy moment. My mom passed shortly after that event. We had a troubled relationship most of my life. I was adopted as a baby and never could quite figure it out. She was very type "A" and could become aggressive. Her last six months were beautiful as she let down her guard. She took some painful jabs at me but I just took it, and was able to get past her shield and find the mom I was always looking for. I still miss her. Thanks for the comment.

The thing with Chrissie, and I mean this in the most positive way, is that her range in terms of pitch is so very limited, but her range in terms of expressive emotion is so vast. Her singing is more like listening to a very talented actor playing a part, or a person opening their heart to you in a way that it opens your own heart. I don't think anyone's singing touches me as much except for maybe Alison Krauss, but try comparing their range and technique. There's hardly any comparison, but they can both move me to tears. What is it? I'm not sure.
