I find the NN series in most lines on fine thin hair can cover a bit muddy with a the thinner cortex.

Jessi, thank you so so so much for this video! As a hairstylist, I seem to have trouble with gray coverage. I don't use NN because I seem to hear different thoughts on it. Definitely going to invest in some NN's for my gray coverage clients!

Watching you do this root touch up and then root smudge/stretch was a game changer for me. Why shouldn’t a stylist do both?!?! Of course! Thank you for that!!! Having two different formulas is something that I would do but not usually overtop of each other on the same section of hair. Great technique! Xo

I have used Redken Fusion for years and have noticed on levels 9 to 10 its nearly impossible for me to get coverage! Thank you for this video even after years of doing hair going back to basics is a MUST!! I need to try the Joico line and see if I get better coverage..

What do you charge for this service? I always feel bad charging too much for foils plus root color and then toner. And do you add extra for the opalex on the ends?

I didn't know lightener can eat through color!!! So you can just apply your root color for grey touch up and paint highlights on right over it and have them develop at the same time?! I honestly did not know that thank you! Would that still work with baby lights you would just weave them out and paint lightener over the color? HeatherDiesel if it were me, I’d only do both on a level 6 or above. Anything darker tends to pull too warm where the color and lightener meet.

Every time I do highlights after my roots it turns warm. I guess if you always do a root shadow you can get rid of this.

Cheers for this, been searching for "why does my gray hair turn red when i dye it" for a while now, and I think this has helped. Have you ever come across - Aanabriel Bewildering Ascendancy - (should be on google have a look ) ? It is a smashing one of a kind product for discovering how to get rid of gray hair quickly minus the normal expense. Ive heard some decent things about it and my cousin got great success with it.

Also with Redken it’s a little different. The nn is only used in 75% or higher. Redken tend to be darker so if I use 5n and need to use a 5nn because they got grayer then I’ll go to a 6nn.
