Thank you kindly! We're lucky enough to have access to so many ways to customize and tweak our Imperial Guard miniatures these days that the only limit is what you're willing to go looking for and come up with. Doesn't take much to tweak stuff to suit your own style. :)

This was another great tutorial! If there were any mistakes I couldn't see them. I am glad you are back and well. I did not know there are water soluble resins for 3D printers. That makes me want to go ahead and invest in one. Thanks for taking the time and effort in making this.
@SonicSledgehammerStudio4 жыл бұрын
Glad it was helpful! I haven't personally used any of the water-soluble resins yet, but a couple of buddies into their SLA printing have and highly recommend them. Once I'm through my supply of 'original recipe' I'll try picking up some of the shiny new stuff and give it a shot.

Resin or SLA printing allows for much finer detail than FDM printers do; the Elegoo Mars is similar in most respects to the Anycubic Photon, and a really cheap entry point if you're looking to print high-quality miniatures like this!

How do you find metallics on the wet palette? I've seen advice not to do it (as metal flakes get in the water) and then people that aren't bothered.
@SonicSledgehammerStudio4 жыл бұрын
I haven't really noticed any negatives to it. I have managed once or twice to split the paper after using it for far too long and getting a little bit of normal paint on to the foam underneath, but it seems not to matter. As long as the paper isn't letting anything mix, I'm sure it should be okay?
@JamesThompson-14 жыл бұрын
@@SonicSledgehammerStudio I agree. To me, it doesn't sound that possible that the metail flakes (which one would assume are larger than the other components of the paint?) are going to get through the paper and contaminate the sponge and water when the rest of the paint would stay on top, but it does seem to be a well supported notion. Also, glad to see you're back home safe and well - it's bad enough working from home as I am, so can only image how trying the last few weeks/months must have been!

@SonicSledgehammerStudio4 жыл бұрын

Came here to get a sauce on these miniatures. But they're 3D-printed. Bummer. Fucking crisp paintjob, though. Love it!
@SonicSledgehammerStudio4 жыл бұрын
If it helps at all, there are 3D printing services that'll do you up bits if you supply the STL files. Reptilian Overlord sells the files on their site, and under normal circumstances would be selling resin parts to make the miniatures as well. Their casting service is shuttered during all the COVID-19 shenanigans, but with any luck they'll be selling physical stuff again soon. :)

Where are the arms with laser gun from? Can't find it at Reptilian Overlords...
@SonicSledgehammerStudio4 жыл бұрын
There's an arms pack, but the rifles aren't actually attached to the hands - you need to physically glue a lasgun or similar into the model's hands during assembly. Or once you've got the files, you could find an STL for a lasgun you like and attach it to the model in a program like Meshmixer or 3D Builder. :)
@TimTheGrim4 жыл бұрын
