So instead I bought a 2020, which was the final year of the last generation, in rim brake form. And I'm so glad I did because even though I didn't realize it at the time, this thing is the last of its kind - an aero AF, super light, stiff thoroughbred racer with a brutally slammed geometry (made for pros, not dentists) that yields absolutely nothing. Nowadays, in a sea of integrated disc brake bikes, this thing has so much character - and it defies the logic that you must choose between aero and lightweight (but can't have both without resorting to exotic weight weenie kit.) Hii, you think u can reach 5 kilos?, i suggested u the panaracer gillar tyres, there is a video in bicilab channel that speak about this tires and say that the tyres are prety good. And if u are not using ridenow tpu camera. i use for 2 years and was the best upgrade for my bike, and keep ee brakes, i asked u about that brakes a few moths ago and that was a very good buy .Thanks to that my orbea aqua san remo from 2006, with sensath lever, old 11 speed ultegra, ee brakes, campagnolo neutron ultra wheels, elita one seat post and sadle and riro carbon crank reach 7.1 kilos with pedals, when i bought it weight 9,2 kilos, and i can reach 6 kilos with another 1.2 kilos aluminiun wheel set i have, but prefer leave like that.

grease is over rated wax is better because its thicker and wont degrade as much.
@klein-concept4 ай бұрын
@@timtaylor9590 but you mean wax for the bottom bracket threads?
@timtaylor95904 ай бұрын
@@klein-concept correct all threads. wax doesnt attract dirt either, its much more resistant to friction and deterioration like how old grease actually calcifies and can cause bolts to seize. just be careful with torque specs because there will be much less friction, your tool may be reading 5nm when its actually closer to 10nm with wax. inside bearings ill use a combination of light oil with some thick grease and wax on the inner and outer part of the shields. all threads i use silcas wax. also works really well for cables. dry lube also works well for cables but it doesnt last as long.

That is a really good frame 🫶 and 8.5 is not bad as well. You can always finetune the weight slowly. With some upgrades that dont have to be expensive.

@@aubreyxengland hehe why not? Been riding these for a while already and never had issues. Especially in flat Berlin 😂😂

@@klein-concept yeah I think that's the ticket. Steep descents are where they tend to cause issues. the EE brakes are killer though - keep them! I'm interested in your thoughts getting back to riding mechanical + rim brakes after riding electronic + disc
@klein-concept4 ай бұрын
@aubreyxengland yes i heard that as well even tho another youtuber called Federico Ciampella took his rim brake bike with carbon wheels to Mallorca and had no issues. In regards to shifting performance. I was riding a Dura Ace 9000 mechanical for a while and you could definitely feel that it is a bit of a downgrade from electronic shifting but the 9100 has so short travels to switch gears that i would consider it as good as electronic shifting. Really love this groupset.
