Does he always eat after his runs? I'm never sure whether to eat before/after a morning run. I don't really have the time to wait for a few hours after eating before a run because of work, and running longer distances is harder without food. What's everyone's opinion because I need help?? 😂
@krazykanos983 жыл бұрын
You could eat some small carbs like a banana beforehand then have a larger meal after maybe porridge+protein
@samkochevar9833 жыл бұрын
Depends on how you’re trying to train. If you’re training for endurance and long distances, the vast majority (like 90%) of your running should be in heart rate zones 1 and 2, which are below your aerobic threshold (depending on what phase of your training you’re in). That means that your body will mostly be generating energy from existing fat stores, so it shouldn’t matter if you have already had a meal that day. Endurance is a metabolic quality, so training your body to efficiently convert fat into energy by not pushing it so hard that it has to burn quick carbs is super important. Running in a fasted state (i.e. first thing in the morning) will usually help your body a bit if you aren’t already training a lot every week. Basically these are a lot of words to say that you don’t want to eat too soon before a run for stomach reasons, and you want to eat soon after a run to help your body refuel. If your endurance work is going to last longer than an hour then it is usually a good idea to bring along some gels or something to prevent from depleting your glycogen stores too much, and eating within 30-40 minutes of a workout will help recover faster
@Morfeusm3 жыл бұрын
Put calories into your hydration you take with you on a longer run. Also, as others said light meal before should be fine. Depends what you can stomach.
