Nice talk, nice beard coming in. Horses are like lots of things in life; you gotta understand them if you ever wanna break them in. Dwayne, a few things. Been watching for a while on the sidelines. You have inspired me so much it's hard to express, but I would like to make an attempt. I started working as a ranch hand at an equestrian school just outside of my city about three months ago. I've only ever been around horses twice in my life but have wanted to. I saw the opportunity and pounced on it, mainly because you instilled a level of courage in me that I could make it happen. Second, your videos and advice and been incredibly useful and thought provoking. And finally, this video, while it may be simple (just like the basics) is so incredibly profound, I am still having a hard time wrapping my head around it. The amount of things I have struggled with, things that I have been held back by... you have just highlighted the answer I've been looking for since I was a little kid. No joke. I feel like I was looking for the most complex solution to such simple problems; like I should have known the answer this whole time. . . Seriously, thank you, from the bottom of my heart. I hope one day I can look you in the eyes and show you even a fraction of the gratitude you are owed.

Honestly, i think you should write a book. Call it something like "the cowboys guide to self-reliance" or something of that nature. Talking about turning that horse... I don't know anything about horses, except the iron type. When you want to turn on a motorcycle, you turn your head and eyes to where you want to go. That does two things. 1) It keeps the mind focused on the point of objective. 2) It naturally leads the body (back, shoulders, hips) to perform the neccesary movement required to make that turn. I can see a symmetry between that and rid8ng a horse; as, as you know, there is a mental and physical connection between horse and rider. It isn't all conscious thought & actions.

I admire this man to a frightening extent. By frightening I mean I hesitate to click on his videos because the wisdom is so intense. I don't even use a bit, so we won't go there, but I love the message. I have used the math/algebra analogy a few times. Often people run into problems when they try to teach a horse algebra when it can't even count yet. Basics make everything better. And yes, training is as much or more about self improvement. 100% agree with your message.

Hey Dwayne, great stuff. Love your prospective on life. I've been retired for many years now and we, along with our friends, do nothing but drink. That is our common thread, but a lot of us are feeling the need to move on from it and don't know how. There is an unmentioned feeling that I can see amongst us and we (my wife and I) are realizing maybe we need to fine new friends, even at the chance of losing the ones we currently have. Any real life prospective that you might have would/might be helpful for your community. Thanks.

I guess the only real advice I could give in this particular situations is that it’s often better to not just quit something, but to replace it. When something becomes a major part of our life, like alcohol, and we just quit it, we leave a hole where that thing used to be. So by nature, we’re always wanting to fill that hole back up. Nature abhors a vacuum. So if we fill the hole that we have created with something positive when we remove something negative, it’s harder for the negative to find a way back in. To find space.

Ive heard it said that God made places before he made people. So where you are is as important as who you are. God can get us anywhere He wants us and I believe He has taken you to this new place. You will meet people there that you are supposed to meet. You will go deeper because of where you are. You will expand wider because of where you are. Who you are will be used because of where you are. People will be drawn to you because of where you are. Your physical energy level will even be different. I dont even have a horse or have ever met you all and it is exciting to see this happening. A blessing you wont even be able to contain!

Great topic that applies to understanding dogs, too. I think this kind of advanced algebraic insight reference might require some advanced basic empathic skills that usually, naturally, and normally begin at the beginning. The ABC skills are all that is needed to understand life and Occam's razon proves that.
