Fantastic series. I started playing backgammon two months ago and also read a beginner book. Seeing your videos consolidates all the information. Please continue with more such videos in this "easy to understand why"-matter.

Hey Dan. I've been watching the WBC and enjoying your commentary. I subscribed and am starting at the beginning of the lessons even though some of it may be a refresher. I've read many books. Maybe this method will make my better than an intermediate! LOL

Hi. It's a Gammoner board :)

@@BackgammonisBeautiful Congratulations on this amazing board, Dan! I started playing Backgammon seriously two months ago and currently I'm looking for a decent board. What's your opinion on the "Wycliffe" boards? Best regards, Alex
@BackgammonisBeautiful Жыл бұрын
@@MrAl2990 As a cheaper option, I like the Wycliffe boards. Gamao board and Manoupoulus also are worth looking at.

I just started getting recommendations for this channel, liked the few I watched and now I finally found lesson 1! My main criticism is that they only come out every week, I'd prefer a daily schecule 😂 but since I have a backlog of 90+ lessons I'll be alright for a while ❤

At 9:43 you say with 3 points closed Green has 9 rolls to come back in. Isn't it 9 rolls to stay out and 27 to come in? Does that change with 2 on the bar?
@BackgammonisBeautiful3 жыл бұрын
Hi Jim. With two on the bar, only 9 rolls will enter both checkers on a three-point board. For example, if the first three points were open, then 11, 22, 33, 12, 13 and 32 would enter both checkers. With one checker to enter, it would be 27 rolls.

I'm a little sceptical about the explanation for 4-1. "It enables us to take command of the game and then be in a very strong position." Isn't it just the least worst option? I think only 25% of opponents replies leave us at all favourite (when she leaves at least one on the bar); the most probable result is she enters both checkers, we have a checker on either ace or bar, and are worse off in equity than we were before we rolled the dice. And if hitting twice and leaving a checker on the ace was as good as this makes it sound, wouldn't we consider it with 6-1 as well (8/2/1)? But thanks for making these - will carry on studying them. Cheers!
@BackgammonisBeautiful2 жыл бұрын
The double hit is strong as it completely takes away the opponent's opportunity to improve their position or build their board. Any alternative doesn't accomplish as much. 6/1 it's better to make the bar to force bad 5s and 6s.

If my opponent opened with a 4-1 like he did, if i rolled a 4-1 id move 6/2 2/1 because i saw it on the Internet.
