Question hope you can settle about the 3 series tractors. I see you have a 5' (60") box blade on it and looks like the tires are inside the blade. Did you do something special to your tires to get them that narrow or can it come that width stock??
@pohbor57885 жыл бұрын
And I'm talking about your 3046
@GoodWorksTractors5 жыл бұрын
@@pohbor5788 Good question. If I recall, my outside to outside rear width is 59", so just shy of the width of the box blade. This is how my tractor came stock. I can't recall tire size at the moment, but there are two tire sizes offered and mine ended up being the smaller size (unintentional). I know the larger tires are 1" higher overall, but not sure if width is affected. If it is, it would be marginally so.
@pohbor57885 жыл бұрын
@@GoodWorksTractors Thanks for the answer back. Our current tractor and all attachments are 5'/60" so when interested in the 3 series always get a little bummed when I see most attachments on those to be 6'/72".
@GoodWorksTractors5 жыл бұрын
@@pohbor5788 I run a 72" brush hog, 72" tiller, and did run a 72" box blade until recently. I sold it with a tractor and only had the 60" in stock which does the job just fine as well. Sometimes narrower implements handle better than wider ones, get into tighter spaces, etc. I find that there's always a trade off to be made.

@@michaelmactavish1728 I just did some subcompact tractor shopping for a neighbour, a retired Physician. She was unsure of what size or brand of tractor to purchase. We decided a small tractor would do everything needed for her 20acre hobby farm. The new 1025r was on sale at $17,200 cdn including pallet forks. The same size Mahindra was 4k higher, 25 HP Kubota 6 k higher. The Kioti was 1k less than the John Deere. I was shocked at the way the pricing came in. I assumed JD would be the highest price by a fair margin Seems like JD is going after this market hard .

Great video! I've got a 2012 4520 and I ordered it with every single SCV I could (3rd function on the joystick, 4th and 5th that's mounted on the right fender for hydraulic snowblower chute rotation and deflector, Diverter kit which adds 2 more SCV from the joystick lever that operates the top and tilt kit) plus the power beyond port. I absolutely love the versatility I get with all the hydraulic options John Deere offers. I use the top and tilt kit all the time with my box blade and after having it I can't see going without. I use the power beyond port for my Kesla log loader trailer to operate the boom functions on it as well as one of the SCV's mounted on the right fender to articulate the drawbar on the trailer to maneuver around tight spaces or to steer the trailer when backing up. All I can say is if you can get all the extra hydraulics just do it and you definitely won't regret it.

The way I level is a combo. I like to box blade forward until I have a pile of dirt in the box, then raise the box, back over my dirt pile, and press drag the pile with the loader bucket as I reverse to start over again. Another good use of a box blade for me is If the area is very rough and covered with sticks and debris (like cutting a new trail in the woods), I typically run the box blade over it as I drive down along the path first time to scrape up the junk and peel off the grass, then dump the box and shove it off the trail. Turn around at the end and do the same thing going back. Quick and easy. Bucket leveling is my method when I'm filling a pad in for a building or something with a smaller area or lots of straight lines with room to turn around. Box blades work better for long trails with twists and turns, though it isn't as packed at the end.

Tim, you need to hook up with the BxPanded folks. I have a 2017 1025R with the 260B backhoe and have added the quickchange Backhoe bucket adapter and also got the root ripper called the "Talon". I have cleared trees with it that were 6" thick in just a few cuts in the ground and ripped the entire tree out, stump and all in just a couple of minutes. Those little saplings wouldn't stand a chance with that attachment. I wish they made the same blade for the larger backhoes. It's really incredible. It's so funny that back east the box blade is foreign to so many, out in the west it is the standard. It is true that moist clumpy soil is tougher to smooth but basically you just lower the box and start driving in circles around the area and very soon you have a very smooth level area. Great vid, fun to see so much green together!! Need to look into if I can divert to 4th and 5ths without the 3rd add first for my 3033R?

I take trees out all the time on my farm, but use a Danuser Intimidator. I really believe in pulling it root and all. If I’m going to spend the time, I want to know it’s gone for good. Any loader tree/post puller works. You just drive up, lock the hydraulic jaw around the base of a tree and either curve the bucket or pull up. Some trees with deeper roots you have to rock a little back and forth. I don’t like mowing trees like you said cause they harden off and cause flats or the tree just regrows. A tree puller may not work on a compact tractor, I don’t know much about the compacts which is why I watch your videos. I have a 3039R which I think I mentioned before, I just use it to mow in the comfort of a cab with a/c. My day to day farming is mostly with much larger tractor like Fendt 516, 722, 724, 828. Those are all 130HP+. I’m finding a lot more uses for the 3039 watching your channel so I have TTWT to thank for that!
