Backpacking the Red River Gorge - Kentucky

Chloe and I went backpacking in the Red River Gorge Geological Area in the Daniel Boone National Forest and it was amazing. We had heard so many incredible things about this place that we had to come check it out for ourselves! We spent the first night roughing it on the Jailhouse Rock trail but, the next two nights we were going to be rained out so we booked a tiny house through Air B & B. We were able to hike throughout day two before the rains came in at night. Day three was our rainy day spent at the Kentucky Reptile Zoo and the Gorge Underground. Day four was more Hiking and then driving home. We had a blast in Kentucky and hope you can enjoy it right along with us, or spark a future travel idea for yourself!

Hi and thanks, House of Hikes for sharing. Wow...that caught my eye...1;21...An asteroid strike!!! Indeed, the drone footage offers the audience the scale of the gorge and landscape. Yes, those rock formations are breathtaking. OMG...I remember this skinny tunnel...only one way...13;48...I have seen one car had to back up all the way... I am glad you had time to go on underground kayaking. This is a full course travel guide. Well done. Your trip reminds me of my kayaking trip to KY I really enjoyed. Yes! You do need permits to stay in the gorge. You can pick them up at any of the gas stations right there in Slade, KY. It’s really easy.
