How to Install Sound Deadening and Is it worth it? School Bus // Skoolie Conversion

Great video. Foam is a sound deadener. Kilmat stops resonating sounds. You mentioned Noico?! They make the foam. Bus looks good.

After kilmat bought noico (or the other way around?) I'm pretty sure they split off their products so that kilmat became the foil faced butyl rubber and noico only makes the foams

It definitly helped. More so just walking around and outside noise but I think once we have walls up we will be able to tell a little more.

Ah! That's a beast of a bus. Lucky you. The ford 7.3 is actually the same as the DT466 which is what is in our bus.

Noico sounds like some good stuff & looks like Kilmat. Do you think it’s the same stuff? We could tell a difference in the echo. Seemed to be less after application.

I think it is. It might be a little better quality, like a little thicker..? but im sure they will do the same. Im pleased with the results! Especially just walking around in the bus. It doesn't feel like an empty warehouse anymore

Once it is finished it will also quiet down. wood, insulation, carpet/flooring ect.

True. Not bad while sleeping but driving it certainly didn't help enough to encourage someone else to get it.

U should try building other cover over the dog house that would lessen the sound more

We've thought about it but there very limited room in between the stair and the wheel well and the driver seat. We are planning on doing some type of cover. Kind of like a spare tire cover or something

@Boris Shuplecov I saw that. But for exchange of less sound vs space wasn't a big enough sell for me so we dont plan on building another box over it. Just something to lay on top since it's kind of ugly. lol

@@BackroadPurpose decrease of 3 db, sound energy is halved.. It takes a lot of change in audio to affect on db. :)

In my opinion i don't think that stuff is that effective. If it were we'd be using it a lot more in the construction trade. The company i work for just made a sound recording studio and boy were they strict about wanting to lower the sound, yet we didn't use a piece of that stuff. Used in apartment building (the walls the separate each apartment), not used. The way to see if that stuff really worked would have been to apply it over your finished bus. then you can see the difference between how well your insulation stops sound with and without that. If you just had that with no insulation in the bus, i'd agree with you. But since you will be insulating, i don't think its effective. Sorry, thats just my opinion. If it works for you, great.

Thanks. The test was actually done before we put the insulation in with the same result. I had about 4 more sheets I wanted to add to see if it changed which is why you see insulation up top. I cant see it being effective on anything other then a metal wall as it is apply weight to a lighter surface and pressure causing it to deaden. I think the best example is around 6:50
