None will ever top the OG fictional endless liminal space, SCP 3008 the infinite IKEA Still my favorite to this day, it's not just a weird empty place that repeats forever, it's like an entire universe/planet with it's own ressources, where so many people have been lost that they began to create societies, tribes and city state inside a giant ikea, I just find the concept so cool, with a lot more potential than just "you're stuck in a corridor"

In the shower level,there is a shadow monster that chases you and u can see them in the pool levels also
@EphiTV
@EphiTV Жыл бұрын
Either it bugged out or I just never looked at it, but I didn't see any sort of monster or shape for the whole game. Just the static mannequins.

Interesting. I probably would've taken my time picking paths if the endless sections were actually puzzles to solve. Just seemed like they were completely random until you got lucky and the exit was generated.

@@EphiTV yeah its not really a game I'd buy,i also feel the same way about fnaf but thats a different game

Yeah this was the most jarring comment when the figure was the most highlighted about this game.

People never get the name “Anemoiapolis.” Anemoia is “nostalgia for a time or place one has never known.” Also nice thumbnail lol

Interesting, didn't know that. Wanted to go with some more experimental thumbnails lately. That car face was just too similar to the skinamarink phone not to.

2:32 fun fact, if you ever happen to lucid dream and *think* there's a monster somewhere then there *will* be a monster. Thought is the strongest power you have in a dream

Id love to eventually see(or possibly make) a liminal space horror game inspired by the backrooms that more fits the vibes or exploring a truly foreign yet familiar environment, that is like actually infinite, but not empy, i know it would be quiet a bit of work and take a lot of tuning to balance how much "nothing" there would be inbetween stuff to make it feel desolate but not bland, but it would be cool, with different levels added over time with updates, and multiplayer, but in the way where its more like you COULD encounter someone, not will, and possible with the ability for players to decide how they want to react to others, and maybe with fake players that pose a threat to you, so seeing another person would have the potential to be both relieving, but also induce paranoia, never knowing if they might stab you in the back or be an immediate threat, and i think having more neutral entities would help aswell, some are threats, some are not, with all levels having different looking threats and nonthreats, and some entities sorta deciding based on circumstance, and i think including more explorablity in the spaces would also be cool, like say theres vents in a level, so you can traverse through open spaces, or risk climbing through ventilation shafts, and in general more diverse experiences, like different ways to reach multiple levels from any given level, but not so specific they can be memorized, for example, maybe you start in an office hallway labyrinth, then you can occasionally find balloons, and if you walk in the directions of the balloons they make a sparse path which could lead to a room with party decorations, where if you walk into it and arent looking behind you, when you turn around the office is gone and you are in a different level, like i want a backrooms type game that isnt too story driven or linear because that feels wrong for liminal spaces, but also not bland and empty, stuff to do, but never too defined in what you are supposed to do

It's a very tough design challenge to make liminal space games that are supposed to feel empty without boring the player. I think Anemoiapolis is a small step in the right direction but there's a lot more progress to be made.

Based on the reviews it seems like it already had a decent audience from the earlier versions. I didn't hear about it until it hit Steam either.

Hm.. No multiplayer, no repeatability, shallow gameplay. I didn't think that a game like this could find financial success in 2023. It's a pleasant surprise. It means that miracles can still happen.

That description applies to most non-combat horror games. They're still very popular on itch.io but only a few make it to a wider audience on Steam.

If the multiplayer you are referring to is PvP, then I really want to heavily disagree. Coop is nice though.

Maps like these would make perfect physics playgrounds. Personally, id love to explore these places with a paddle board for the water sections and a skateboard for the rest.

A massive indoor lazy river would be pretty neat irl. I know some exist but not to this scale or anything.

There's a couple tiled pool room pictures that get reposted a lot on liminal space forums. Probably inspired by the same few pics.

World of Horror is basically that, but it's more like a visual novel than an exploration game.
