Great Step by Step Instructions! Most DIY videos leave out a step or two assuming you know what to do, but you go the extra step by showing us everything, really appreciate it!

Question: NGK states specifically to not put Anti-Seize on since their plugs have trivalent plating, providing corrosion resistance. They even say it could be detrimental to your engine if you do so and it's completely unnecessary. Have you ever had an issue with this?
@bovideos9751 Жыл бұрын
The people at NGK (or any other spark plug maker) are not the ones removing the spark plugs after 100k, 200k, 300k+ miles. I always add some anti-seize and am careful not to over-torque the spark plugs. Here is some additional evidence: kzbin.info/www/bejne/pXjPlJaCZ5qcb7s

Great video, Im going to try and change mine this weekend. I have a 2004 Tacoma 3.4L . Are the plugs the same for a 2004? I accidentally broke the top covering on the plug wire connected to the #4 coil I thought that I had to take that off to remove it. Does the coil have to grip the end of the plug with a locking sound? I pushed it down but didnt feel a secure grip when I tightened the screw for the coil?

Just got a 1995 tacoma with this engine. Previous owner put single electrode platinum ngks. I keep getting a misfire with codes p0300 p0301 and p0303. He also put aftermarket ignition coils. Could single electrode spark plugs cause the misfire? Does it hurt the engine? I just ordered a set of Denso duel electrode spark plugs, wires, and ignition coils. Hopefully that clears up the misfires

I would say to check the ignition plugs to make sure the connector doesn’t come off onto the spark plug. I made that mistake and had to replace two of those as well

Perfect thank you! I have a misfire on 3 and 6…. Probably the coil that controls them both
@backyardchevy3282 жыл бұрын
Yea that sounds like itd be a bad ignition coil since that one powers both of those

I had a misfire on my 02 Tacoma and went after the number 5 plug because it is the easiest to get to. When I was talking it out I thought I was breaking my ratchet because of how hard it was coming out. That plug was bad so the misfire went away. The rest of the plugs came easy. With 6 new plugs it runs like a top.

How often should these spark plugs be replaced. I recently bought an ‘03 Toyota Tacoma with about 135k miles on it and everything works fine, it’s my backup vehicle. But I’m wondering what time of preventative maintenance I should look into doing. Thanks.
@RacingPepeАй бұрын
It's 18640 miles generally (converted from kilometers so weird number). But if everything works fine you really don't need to. Since you just bought the car you could just pull out 1 or 2 and do a visual inspection. If they have a light brown coffee hot chocolate kind of color you're good to go. If they are greasy or very dark brown / black you will want to replace them and look for the cause. There is always a cause.

@@energy_sage I know this is late but I had the same issue. All I did was put 2 cans of B12 Chemtool Fuel Injector Cleaner after filling it with gas and it fixed the problem for me. If the fuel injectors are clogged then this could be something to troubleshoot.
