I like to use my bacon fat in many different ways. One of my favorites is to take canned green beans, heat them to boiling, drain them, then add a spoonful of bacon fat and a touch of honey along with a bit of salt and pepper. YUM! Thanks for sharing this recipe. I never thought about bacon gravy. Will be trying it for sure!!

Oh, yeah, I've done that forever, LOL! A little bacon fat makes a lot of things better!

BACON GRAVY is the best. Goes great over everything, and Way better than sausage gravy. Good background music too. I cheat by cutting the bacon into 1" pieces, and cook a bunch at one time (stir often).. That way it's already crumpled up.... the remainder I use on BLT's & over salad.

It's hard to beat! Yup, that's a good time saver! I always have bacon left to use for whatever, LOL!

I would top it off with 2 eggs over medium. And the bacon on the side. With a cold glass of milk.

The eggs would sink me, LOL! But definitely a way to go!

My Favorite Gravy...always makes my kitchen smell like my Little Cherokee Grandma’s Kitchen when I make this Gravy, along with fried potatoes, toast and have some strong coffee perking in her old school electric percolator....She also use to make Chocolate Gravy for us kids when we visited My Grandparents and all my Dad’s Family in South East Missouri every Summer...never did learn that recipe...Think I’ll text my Cousin and get it from her....But, for now I’ll be making this Bacon Gravy with all the fixins this weekend...Thanks for this Video!....✌️💜💋

Fat and water don't mix well, plus you won't have the taste or thickness. So yes, you can but not with good results.

What are you using and at what temps?
@airratchetjockey76054 жыл бұрын
Helga's Pennsylvania Cooking tried some flax oil at 325°F for 1hr
@PennsylvaniacookingBlogspot4 жыл бұрын
The flax seed is fine. But your temp is way too cool. The hotter the better. 400-425 for at least a couple of hours. Repeat process 3-6 times. More is always better. I'll do it once a day for several days to build it up.

I'm taken back to the days we could camp in N.Y. I so looked forward to anything you cooked. Bacon is a staple in my opinion and that gravy over potatoes is a fantastic idea. I had to laugh at your taste test. Normally it's one or two bites, but noooooooo. You had to tease us by eating almost the whole plate!

Helga, I'm a new subscriber and I love your recipes! Just wondering why you chose "Sweet Home Alabama" as your opening theme for "Helga's Pennsylvania Cooking?"
@PennsylvaniacookingBlogspot5 жыл бұрын
A friend of mine actually did my intro for me and came up with this version of the song, and it just fit me and my style and what I like. If there was a Sweet Home Pennsylvania, I'd have used it! I did toy with a good Polish Polka, but not the same, LOL! My cousin in AL was pretty happy with it, LOL! Welcome to the channel, the food is very Pennsylvania, even my music is not! LOL!

Please lose the music while your talking, I feel it's rude. If you had company in your home you'd turn off the TV or music. Why do you think it's appropriate to have music while talking? I just dont get it and I'm sorry to say I stopped watching and will not watch future videos. :(((((
@PennsylvaniacookingBlogspot4 жыл бұрын
Wow. I guess you need to tell all the restaurants that play background music that, as it's most of them. And that's what it was, background music. If that offends you, you weren't here for the cooking to begin with. In my home and the home I grew up in, background music is/was normal. Perhaps this is a cultural difference. Otherwise, it'd just be you being rude, lol.
