So around a month ago, American McGee said on Twitter "I once made a game that predicted virus, riots, natural disaster; militarized police, racial disparities, and lots of unnecessary violence. Because the writing was on the wall. It ended on a positive note of self-sacrifice and unification. I hope the real world version can too." That game was Bad Day L.A. I'm sure he was just being satirical.

Can we talk about the white R32 GTR Skyline in the game intro? Can we ponder how it got there when until a few years ago they were illegal to import to the US?
@scottl.15684 жыл бұрын
Gray market... They were expensive to import, more expensive to legally register and the ownership history back in Japan might have been highly dubious (i.e. stolen), but if you had the cash there were some loopholes to exploit before they were closed.

4:33 Civvie says it looks like shit but this looks fine to me, or even pretty good for 2006. Am I just old? The clips here roughly comparable to Okami (2006), although admittedly somewhat inferior, and cell-shaded graphics tend to age well, so I honestly think this game looks good enough, even today. Like anything from the era, the one obvious problem to me is the low resolution and poor anti-aliasing.

I watched this the second time today (for some reason). This game made me recall an adventure game called Stupid Invaders (which I thought was interesting, being a child at the time and all), that had some kind of weird, similar wannabe-satirical social commentary in it, now that I think of it... Civvie, you should probably do an episode of that fabulous game. There's some cartoon violence involved so I suppose it might be worth a shot.

Did American McGee even have enough name recognition to stick his name in front of this game? Because yeah, sure he made some levels in Doom but like, he wasn't Romero. This is coming from someone years after the fact but even then I find it hard to believe the average gamer knew who American McGee was and would be attracted to this game by seeing his name in the title.
@spookysam75745 жыл бұрын
I remember seeing a trailer for this game on a G4 show, but I never found out the name until now. For some reason I thought it was a Boondocks game. If I saw it before this video I probably would have grab it in a heartbeat due to years of built up curiosity. Thank you for playing this garbage so I wouldn't have made a massive mistake.

I got this game from the disc attached to a well known polish gaming magazine that cost ~ 5€, that was in the week the game came out. Kind of illustrates what a mess the release must have been. I was kind of a "budget gamer" at the time so i actually played through like 30% of it but I don't remember having any fun or laughing once.
