hey guys, i listen to every one of your pod casts and have grown cannabis for over 10 years. i dont have a degree in botany but i def know a hell of a lot about it. as for the strains being different in different parts of the world. climate can def impact the way a strain grows, but not by too much. usually it can make a strain stretch more if the climate is hotter or bush up more if the climate is colder. but the genetics are what truly make a cultivar or strain differ in flavor, smell, colour, and sight. so if you have say ak-47 grown in Australia and the exact clone of the same plant but grown in the states. they would be virtually the same. minus a few minor differences because of environmental conditions. heres the reason that so many strains named the same thing can be so different. when growing from seed you have the potential for so many different combinations of the two plants that were parents to the seed. seeds are basically children, and their not identical twins. can there be the exact same genetic makeup in two seeds on the same plant like identical twins? yes. but the strains youre so used to are usually grown from clone or cuttings. which makes an exact replica of the plant it was taken from. hunting through thousands of plants grown from seed for the best mother plants is a job which in itself can take years. and once you have those mothers the clones taken from them are the best of the best of that strain hand picked from thousands of seeds. in short. buying seeds is a crap shoot and a huge gamble and you can get so many different traits from each seed. buy the seeds, sift through the plants for the best most vigorous and potent plants and then clone those and keep a mother and keep it's lineage going forever if you want to. and thats your cannabis lesson for the day. thank you for the podcasts!

What you're unfortunately missing is all the weed in Australia is literal garbage. It's very difficult to get well bred seeds out there and because of their soil and climate a lot of synthetic amendments are used and low quality plant growth regulators. Even their medical program is riddled with awful bud.

Hello. I’m a cannabis breeder and can answer your questions. Most strains with the same name but from different seeds can be very different. Most of this boils down to the work the breeder has done inline breeding for certain traits and for how many generations they have done this for. Lots to it. Look at plant breeding charts for an example. 🔥🌲

Sooooo as a person who works in a lab for weed this episode really spoke to me. Also the AK question. No they'd be different because they're multiple "cuts" of most strands(also it's strands not strain it's not bacteria). So the AK in the US could be any in Egypt it's probably AK 47 #5 or 6, Australia probably also #5 but US it would depend also places like Spain would be #1-3 probably they have lots of options.
@omni69823 жыл бұрын
I have never heard anyone call it a strand and I've been in the farms
@swvch3 жыл бұрын
@@omni6982 it's because strain is hammered into everyone's vocabulary. In recent times I get looked at funny if I don't know the difference but again doing lab work. A strain would be in the world of the bacterial family. A strain of bacteria right. Plants are strands. But it's so common to hear strain that it's just stuck forever.

@swvch3 жыл бұрын
@@Jtt7987 meh not 100%. so if i took 6 seeds of AK from random outlets youd be correct theyd all be different depending on the father plant and who owned it you might get the same one. buuuut lets say i take a clone off my AK #3 genetics which ive cloned for years now original genetics from MAC a long time ago. but anyways if i cloned a male for reproductive seeds every clone is exact copies of the plant it was taken from. so all those seeds that came from all the clones would be identical.

I 100% agree with Swagger on the fact that campaigns matter, ESPECIALLY for First-Person-Shooters. I played MW3 as a kid, maybe 10 or 11 years old, and bro when I hung Makarov as Price I felt a level of success probably akin to getting your first car or house. Like I had played every level, died countless times, and witnessed the trauma of war (I.E Soap dying for real by some fucking bomb) ALL to get to this very moment where I fall through the glass and land and then smoke a cigar as I watch the guy who started ALL of this literally hang from a noose, dead. No, I didn't become a serial killer. I feel bad for killing ants. But I did experience a range of introspective ideas (What would I do if I were a soldier on that battlefield? Time to find out) and I got that final moment of conclusion. Singleplayer cod games are stories; Multiplayer cod games are a way to waste time when you're bored and you played the campaign already. Imagine my disdain when they were like "Yeah we're gonna release black ops 4 and it's not gonna have any of that boring campaign bullshit that takes forever; it's gonna be like fortnite!" -_- The campaign is so important because it puts you in the headspace of a soldier. If you don't have that initial headspace, you'll sort of become the ultimate soldier; a ruthless killing machine hellbent on taking as many lives as possible. To me, this sounds like the average multi-player COD experience. Now imagine every one of those people had a family that they were working to get back to, and what reason do you have for aiming through the sites and pulling the trigger? Surely, "I was superior. I shot first, which means I get to go home to my fucking family while his family suffers and cries tragically. If he was only a little quicker...but he wasn't, and that's his fault. I'm alive because I simply deserve to be alive more. Thanks, Natural Selection!" This gives an entirely different feel to that of a simulated soldier in a simulated environment, playing a simulated game to win simulated points. You are interested in learning more about what a soldier goes through because that's the shit that's ACTUALLY HAPPENING! It's not just a game, it teaches you about the hardships of war, albeit quite glamorized. Without teaching people of the sufferings of the soldier, they shouldn't even incorporate any piece of war or soldier ideology at all into their games. Turn into fucking fortnite, because at this point it IS just a game about running around and killing people for fun
