I quite like the UNO Drum. No issues with mine. I use it over my Behringer RD-8. I bought a longer USB cable for my Uno Drum and it works great. I got an awesome price on a new one last year.. I also plug it into a phone wall adapter to power and found it helps get rid of noise. I dig it. It's a fun little drum machine. I haven't had an issue with finger drumming on it. The Modal Skulpt feels even more like a cheap toy. It was so bad, I returned the Skulpt as it also relies too heavily on its app.

Yet again... Bad Gear covers a device I was looking at in the past 6 months. I think this happens as I regularly search for gear under £200. I got my fully expanded Roland TR8 for £220. It has many of those classic Roland drum sounds and I can hook it up to an old EMU ESi sampler too... kind of makes €180 for the IK look like a meh deal. Also... those pads just put me in mind of loads of 80s and early 90s electronic toys. But it does sound the IK can polish up well in the hands of someone like you. Keep up the great work!

The Uno Drum is a nice drum machine, I get mine for $150 and I love it specially with the drum anthology library, you got many drum machines in one also somebody found a way to load your own samples on it and that opens a lot of possibilities, the only thing that I complain it's a stereo output (L, R) with a panning function, other than that is really good. PS: I got the Uno Synth too.

They go for about 100 international beer tokens in the UK. Still overpriced, compared to the humble Volca equivalent. The Drumbrutes have the advantage of individual outs, even if they are on mini monojacks, which allows some external processing to oomph up the sounds. The gold standard for teenytiny analogue drumboxes with wonky operating systems is the MFB503, which knocks the UNO out of the park.

I have one of these. Let me start by saying that I'm just getting into music production. This is technically my second drum machine. I bought a Korg Volca Drum first. I love it but it is tough for someone just starting out to use effectively (at least for me it was, anyway). So, I decided to get this. I really like it, for the most part. That said, I am on my second one. The first one had to be returned due to some of the buttons becoming completely unresponsive. With the latest firmware update I am experiencing very little bugs. The only bugs I experience are with some of the step buttons becoming unresponsive. It happens when I go to swipe all the steps quickly to lay down 16 claps, for instance, in a row. As a result, I've stopped swiping like that and now push each step button in a normal fashion. As I said, I'm new to this stuff. I'm satisfied with it, overall.

Its a giant PITA but I definitely recommend picking one up for like a 100 bucks if you can, under two conditions. (1) You use external midi control and sequencing. The thing has an astonishingly complete midi implementation and its even in the manual (I'm looking at you AKAI). Midi receive includes roll and stutter effects, the tweakable paramters of the different sounds as well as switching between the different sounds per slot included in a kit (5 sounds per slot), as well as changing kits. (2) You use use a ground isolator usb thingie. arturia sends some with their beatstep pro. (alternatively using batteries might also work and they recommend using a balanced TRS into a mixer while not pluggin in the ground part in the manual -- which sounds like a joke). Once you resolve all the BS of this thing, its pretty fun. And if you're on the fence about a dedicated analog drumbox, this is a good unit to give it a shot.

To anyone that cares - I agree these devices are really fussy about the USB cable. I found purely by chance that the cheap and nasty USB cables that come with vape batteries work 🙂Blu Pro is the brand.

The more I learn about budget drum machines the more I'm sure that a Volca Drum is all I need. 😅
@up75003 жыл бұрын
@@Yuzuki1337 This imo, sounds much better than a volca drum. Although I do like the subby thump of the volca kick drum
@Paul_Y_T3 жыл бұрын
@@up7500 really depends what sound you're after - volca drum is a very different thing to this, it's much closer to volca beats imo.

@@Paul_Y_T Ah sorry, my bad I got the volca drum mixed up with the volca beats!

Proud to be one of those screenshotted "fires" on gearslutz, IK's reaction to issues was absurd. That being said... I'll possibly still buy a Uno Drum Pro if they give it the same treatment as the Uno Synth. The actual synth engine / os is excellent.

I had 2 units in a row with a faulty cowbell button and gave up.

Nice! Yeah, Pro version would be highly appreciated!

User Sample Pack functionality for the Uno Drum has been cracked! Previously the IK Multimedia Legacy packs were all you could swap into the machine, but this (admittedly early) proof of concept shows that custom samples are indeed possible. Possible candidate for a future Better Gear entry? kzbin.info/www/bejne/j5zHo5SXlsp2jdE Details on how it was done are in the video description.

A couple things stood out immediately too me: Drum sounds are nice and sound great except in the intro tune! And two, the drums seem to lag behind in the intro tune as well. My overall thoughts agree with you.There is much room for improvement.

Oh, didn't notice the lag, thanks for posting!

I have the Uno Drum and I love those Anthology sounds. They make it worth the purchase. The classic Roland sounds don't do it for me, though. Maybe I'm not playing them right.
@AudioPilz3 жыл бұрын
Agreed! You have to set the internal levels very carefully to make them shine

nice jams - I heard horror stories about the UNO Drum, i have the UNO Synth and it's decent but the "buttons" were a bad idea regarding the DX-7 comment, at least its flat membrane buttons were still tactile (mk 1) and the keyboard had velocity and aftertouch :-) keep 'em coming...

Have you released any albums or eps? Sorry if I seem lazy for not just looking it up but I’m not quite sure what you release under.

Nope, there are extended versions on Patreon but all the usual big platforms don't make sense for the way I work atm. Trying to release some music in the "traditional" way but it will take a little longer

@@AudioPilz that makes sense, well I’m definitely excited for some “traditional” releases in the future!
