This episode was originally posted in December 2011, and, as per usual, has been re-edited for this re-post, which tightens up the pacing and cuts down the film clips. Overall, this runs 1m 42s shorter than the original, and posted something of a challenge as it's a very dialogue-heavy film. This is the first of several Christmas episodes that are returning (and a few non-Christmas ones), so hope you enjoy!

Film Brain, are you doing to do a Bad Movie Beatdown on Alien Covenant? And if you're wondering how I'M spending Christmas, I'm going to watch The Last Jedi in cinemas. Screw the Disney Star Wars HateDUMB. (I'm also going to watch Batman Returns and Scrooged on Blu-ray, and the traditional fare of getting presents, but hey, Star Wars is a holiday tradition now, so why not.)

Between this and dirty grandpa, Robert de Niro needs a serious career revival.
@dvass7253
@dvass7253 6 жыл бұрын
Or maybe he should've just retired. There's no shame in that. I mean, as much as I miss Sean Connery, as soon as he saw where his career was headed in the early 2000s, he did the smart thing by retiring. I just wish he had ended his career on a higher note by accepting the role of the Architect in the Matrix sequels. As for De Niro, he still does good work like in Silver Linings Playbook and Limitless, but he seriously needs to stop phoning it in in cheap comedies like this and Dirty Grandpa.

@heymistercarter. Жыл бұрын
@@whatsit2ya234 thing is, Dern doesn’t seem to go after a lot of Oscar-bait roles that often. There’s a reason she’s known more for either her blockbuster roles (in franchises like Jurassic Park and Star Wars especially) or for the David Lynch movies she’s done. She’s only been nominated three times and won once. By the time she did this, it’d been decades since her last nomination (for 1991’s Rambling Rose), and she wouldn’t be nominated again until three or four years after doing this. And when she is nominated for Oscars, it’s usually on the strength of the performances themselves rather than how hard she campaigns for it. Heck, Lynch seemed to campaign much harder than she did for her in Inland Empire. And he fought HARD for her in that one (which didn’t work in the end).

Here is how I think they could make a fourth film and redeem the series: it's 13 years later, and Jack passes away, officially making Greg the patriarch to lead the Byrnes family and he's completely unprepared. Difference is this wouldn't be a silly comedy like the first, but would be taken more seriously. Greg doesn't feel worthy of the title, so everyone has to encourage him. A character study of Greg Focker, and a chance for Ben Stiller to really show his acting chops.

Honestly, it's absolutely worth watching the first two. _Meet the Parents_ is actually a really good comedy that was well-liked on release, got great reviews and still holds up. And the first sequel, _Meet the Fockers,_ isn't half bad. It's patchier and cartoonier, but has plenty of genuine laughs. The only one that isn't good is this one, _Little Fockers._ And even then, it's just a disappointing film. It's not like this one ruins the first two or anything.

3:27 I love how Kevin Hart popped up early in your reviews, first for this, then for Epic Movie...and either completely wasting him or putting freaking whiteface on him. How is it that only Scary Movie 3 used him correctly in the 2000's? Also, look at those credits; Jordan Peele, Nick Kroll and John DiMaggio had tiny roles. Weird.

I never really liked the first one, skipped the second one, but 'Little Fockers' was in a bundle of 10 dvd's that I bought without knowing what movies were included. I was determined to watch every one of the ten films, this was the third one I put on - and it convinced me to just go with my gut and skip the other seven. I didn't laugh once, I cringed several times, and got thoroughly annoyed on at least eight different occasions. The one good thing about this whole story is that the whole dvd-bundle cost only $3, and it did contain Mike Judge's excellent 'Idiocracy', so it was still worth it...
@MaximumMadnessStixon
@MaximumMadnessStixon 2 жыл бұрын
The thing that's really disappointing about this film is that there actually is a lot of clever things you could do with some of the concepts they have... with a few rewrites, they could have salvaged the story. But they just fell into the trap so many sequels did in the 2000's/early-2010's... they overcomplicated everything with too many plotlines, and tried to make everything "bigger" and "zanier," which just made it confusing, cartoony and unfunny. I genuinely still love the original _Meet the Parents._ I still watch it every few years. And I even liked _Meet the Fockers._ It was uneven and patchy, but there were still a lot of genuine chuckles and laughs. But this one? I didn't even see it in theaters like I saw the first two, and only watched it out of curiosity since it came with the _Meet the Parents_ Blu-Ray Trilogy I bought about five years ago. And I was completely apathetic the entire time. I wasn't angry or anything... it's not profoundly atrocious and it doesn't ruin the first two. But I can't imagine I'll watch it ever again.

Should have quit acting in 2000 Alba. Hate to tell you this but, is all downhill after Idle Hands. The 2000s and early 2010s ain't gonna be kind.

I focking HATE these piss poor excuses for comedy films. "Jack believes Kevin is having an affair , and his wife, who talks about her relationship with her kids is worried that..." What is this crap? "As The Stomach Turns"?! GREAT review, tho...;)
