I love the editing style of your reviews. It’s like “reverse MST3K” where the movie is commenting or adding to your lines rather than vice versa.

In the Overlook Encyclopedia of Horror Movies, the brief blurb on this film ends with, "No skin is eaten."

I'm afraid that my first reaction to the title was to wonder if the skin was eaten raw or fried to a crisp first.

Wait, this film was in Black & White with little to no gore in it? I remember being grossed out by the title imagining someone having their flesh torn from their body as it was eaten. And there was none of that? I don't know if I'm angry or relieved!
@julietfischer50563 жыл бұрын
You'd be surprised how many titles don't match the movies. This is usually an attempt to draw in new audiences. (Many decades ago, I read a MAD magazine strip that detailed the retitling and repackaging of a fictional movie from the romance -Whispering Branches_ to something like _The Hell-Raisers_ complete with the promise of sex, drugs, and rock 'n roll. Pretty accurate.)

How I missed this is a question. Have to admit that it sounded gruesome. Still it was bad enough to be fun. This was exactly what I was looking for as a kid. And then along came something called, "The Exorcist" and I learned the difference between horrified (what I knew) and shocked (something very new; well, if you don't count The Tingler, which was literally shocking ;-)

My suggestion for a future zombie review is an odd little item from 1936 called Revolt of the Zombies (somewhere in that title there's a joke...). It's an extraordinarily bad film, with only 2 features of interest: one, it takes place in Cambodia (or, as one blogger put it, it takes place not so much in as "in front of" enlarged photos of Cambodia), with a mad scientist trying to create a zombie army; and the other, it's made by the Halperin brothers, who made the 1932 film White Zombie, considered to be the first zombie movie ever made. Unfortunately for les freres Halperin, the second time proved very much not a charm.

My Gosh, you guys take some real silver bullets for our entertainment. Thank You For All That You Do. Next Zombie Film? To me John Carradine is the human personification of Dark Corners Reviews; so I recommend "Revenge Of The Zombies" (1943). I struggle to think of a film more boring with a more interesting title than "I Eat Your Skin".

Another great review of a very bad movie. This film probably has the worst zombie make-up I have ever seen. Basically, plug up their eyes and cover them in sand. Wonderful thing, mad science. I'm sure that I have mentioned this film before, but one zombie flick that I would love to see Dark Corners tackle is "Shock Waves (1977)".

Greetings again from the great state of Wisconsin! Awesome review for a crap movie! For a somewhat good zombie flick, how about Shockwaves (1975)? It's got John Carradine and Peter Cushing in a great cameos, Brooke Adams from "Invasion of the Body Snatchers", and Nazi zombies on a tropical island. You can't wrong with this one. Anyway, keep up the great reviews!

Maybe you could review _Zombie Nightmare_ - it's a REALLY painful 1987 zombie/voodoo flick that wastes the talents of Adam West and a pre-Wayne's World Tia Carrere on one of MST3k's lesser films (even by their standards). Also, probably because it stars Jon Mikl Thor (of all people), it features the music of numerous heavy metal bands (e.g. Motörhead). It's a unique film, but it certainly doesn't make it any good.
@chadcastagana91816 жыл бұрын
Steven Wyrick I remember seeing that flick on USA Up All Night in the early 90's paired with PUMPKINHEAD. Both films had same plot
@steealconwyrick19996 жыл бұрын
You're absolutely right. The difference is that _Pumpkinhead_ at least has decent effects and tries to build a spooky atmosphere (even though it didn't always work for me). _Zombie Nightmare_ probably made that film look like _The Thing_ by comparison.

A sure indicator of an old movie with Hollywood projected ideas of tropical reality is having men dressed in coats and ties for evening events with a small number of people in a hot, humid off the beaten path island. It is an attempt to indicate an desire of the characters to maintain civility in a backwater as opposed to the natives. I would be walking around with shorts, a button down short sleeve shirt and a mosquito net which starts at my hat and goes down to and is tied at my boots. As my great-grandmother would say, White people weren't designed to live at these latitudes.

So, I Eat Your Skin was filmed in 1964, but unreleased until 1970--seems the director had trouble finding a distributor for the print. Anyone know why it took so long to make it into theaters? And who was the director? Zombies with covered eyes?!? Give me a break! Must been difficult for the actors to run during the chase sequence. Another "so bad it's good" low--budgeter.

No skin is eaten in the whole movie; they might as well call it PURPLE PENGUINS FROM PLUTO. I feel like I've seen this stupid plot in a couple dozen Z grade movies from the 50's. So they blow up the island, nobody could figure out how to get the model to sink. Zombie movie?
