The harness sockets in the pcm just need to be resoldered, might as well reflow the resistors in the power supply side while you have it open. If you are uncomfortable doing this work you can send the pcm to a rebuilder.

@@OnlineMechanicTips I currently do drive a silver 2003 Chrysler PT Cruiser GT. It is the second of my Chrysler/Dodge group cars after the previous Plymouth Neon. If I bought a Toyota, Honda, Mazda, it would not be at the car shop as often.

I thank you for all the information and education you provide through your Chanel. In my opinion Chrysler vehicle is nothing but issues. I have a 2006 Chrysler 300 and it nothing but repairs. Maybe because the vehicle is an older vehicle.

Part of the programmed obsolescence in everything that is manufactured starting at a certain point in history. It was a ploy to get consumers to buy new products. There are so many things I can no longer get for my 2000 Buick Century custom. I have to find certain parts through a parts recycler or an used inventory wholesaler.

Bro, any reputable GOOD mechanic is going to have a scan tool as good or better that dealership. Think about it. A Chrysler dealership deals woth Dodge and Chrysler and all that. Your regular mechanic shop may see Mercedes, buick, gmc, and everything in between. Dealership only really needs a tool for their Bread and butter. Mechanic domt know whats going to come in makeing EVERYTHING their bread and butter

Just picked up one of these, 2001 , 67k miles. Mint condition. What should I look out for that might not be obvious right away?

Bought my 01 with 114k last February. Worst thing that happens with these guys around 80k is the head gasket blows or/and heater core goes out. If your smelling coolant with your heater on, your heater core is more than likely busted and leaking coolant. Took me a a whole weekend to replace my heater core because it’s located behind the dash assembly. My fuel line located right next to the radiator cap snapped off one day when checking my coolant because it was just so old and deteriorated after 22 years. I could not find a fuel line online or locally for less than $150 so I had to make my own. So watch for that when you take off your cap. All the repairs I’ve done in the past year are brakes, front and rear wheel bearings, radiator, heater core, new plugs and coil pack, and a transmission flush. So vfar Everytime I’ve turned the key it’s turned on. They just need some love.

Definitely do a radiator coolant flush and coolant change. Those radiators are barely big enough to do their job and once they start getting crud in them, it just gets worse.

Where is the alternator fuse located at in a PT cruiser. My cousin replaced the battery with the wrong size and connected it wrong and smoke came out from the bottom of the fan . He went and got the right one from AutoZone the car turned on he drove it for awhile next thing you know it shut down he said while he was driving it the battery icon was popping up and going away while he was driving came to a stop after awhile and it shut down. I gave him a jump it turned on but the car turned right off after like 30 seconds. I told him he has a bad alternator it's not charging his battery. I know it's hard to try to diagnose a car like this but at least some tips and point in the direction lol could help.

Swap, or flush the radiator, had same problem.. especially if you ever dont use synthstic, use water, ut will mineralize
