School shooter Ethan Crumbley gives one last statement on Friday at his sentencing for the murder of four students at Oxford High School back in 2021. Crumbley says “this is no one's fault but my own.” Crumbley entered the high school on November 30th, 2021 where he shot and injured seven people and killed four. Crumbley has been sentenced to life behind bars without parole for this heinous crime.

Except for one teeny weenie little problem. That judge gave him life without parole. He can't do life without parole because the Supreme Court ruled that with adolescents, because of the underdeveloped brain, it constitutes cruel and unusual punishment and therefore violates the 8th amendment. I agree that it wasn’t “chilling”, especially compared to the actions that he’s on trial for, but calling himself a “bad person” when that’s obviously a gigantic understatement isn’t really being accountable. He knew he was going to get life regardless. He was just trying to save face. In order for him to take responsibility for his actions, he would’ve had to say much worse things about himself and even ask for the DP. That would be true accountability. An eye for an eye. Here is another idea for you. Why don't those 'grieving victims' do something POSITIVE instead of focusing on that sadness and anger? Like advocating for change in this country as to how we handle mental illness? Because no matter what anyone says, at the end of the day it was mental illness that caused this tragedy. Around 80% of these incidents are the result of mentally ill people and probably 90% were preventable because the mentally ill showed SIGNS of their illness. It's just that no one cared enough to try to get them help.

@@AuntCathyPooh Yes, you're right. It was the reason for the Miller hearing. But the judge during the hearing should have set the minimum number of years he would have to do BEFORE being granted a parole hearing. Just like they did a couple weeks ago with those two kids who murdered the Spanish teacher. He still can't serve life. Miller clearly stated that. Two years ago in 2021 SCOTUS upheld Miller in Jones v. Mississippi when Kavanaugh wrote “youth matters in sentencing. As such, mandatory life without parole sentences remain unconstitutional for youth."

Why? Why do parents need to be responsible for a psycho like this? My son was murdered by a "tough guy" wannabe and he was raised in a religious, respectful home. He turned out bad. I heard how he was just a cowardly piece of street garbage. He made the decision to take a life. My God I'm sick of hearing "parents need to be responsible".

Wow Ethan really got big! I think he does sound sorry for his actions and takes full responsibility for his actions but his parents do have a lot of blame for what happened even though they didn't know he was going to do it! They didn't get him the mental help he was crying out for but instead purchased him a gun! makes no sense! I never have any pity for these crazies that shoot up schools and other institutions but Ethan was in a very bad home life upbringing (not that it excuses what he did) and doesn't change the fact that he took four lives that will never get to enjoy their lives! It's just very sad he couldn't get the help he truly needed and now will potentially live a very long life in a prison cell! Maybe the parents should get the same life sentence for creating the monster Ethan turned out to be!

Very popular to hate this kid but if I ever saw someone who was bullied relentlessly in school it was him. This poor kid was harassed until he couldn't take it anymore. His parents failed him, they should have enrolled him in a gym and had a trainer build some muscle on him or put him in a karate school but instead, the fools bought him a gun. The school failed him because they allow bullies to harass weaker kids, the school is as much to blame as anyone. I know this because I was as skinny as a death camp survivor and I was bullied at school. I thank God I didn't have access to a gun or I'd be in the same spot.
