I remember being 15-16 playing this on repeat. After Stranger Than Fiction and knowing Brett wouldn't be on this album, holy shit they still put out one hell of an album. I'm almost 21, this record still holds up man. Especially my personal views and such have changed over time. That's how you can tell when an artist has made great music.

Bruno Leonardo ... I love this album, and I love Stranger than fiction, which was my first encounter with BR. They remind me of my teens along with Recipe for Hate. But their shining jewels.? If so, you may wanna include Suffer, No control and Against the grain. You may not like them as much as the early-mid '90's BR, but at least as a recognition of the impact the earlier albums had on the genre. At the last BR show I went to, they played the entire No control album.... Just braggin'

I realize a lot of people will disagree with me(fuck 'em) but I would say this is one of Bad Religion's best albums. It sounds angrier, probably because Brett left, and I'll bet it's hard to deal with the fact that one of your band's main songwriters quit the band, but Greg refused, and infused that anger into the songs, great songs like Them And Us, A Walk, Punk Rock Song, Ten In 2010, Come Join Us and one of BR's greatest, Cease. This is a great album, and if you give thought to the circumstances behind it, it is even better.
@SaltpeterTaffy

+Nick Axeman The more I listen to BR's later discography(this album and onward), the less I feel the desire to listen to Suffer and Against the Grain, their two most celebrated albums. Anger is exactly what I picked up from this album too, and it's glorious. For the band it must have been a catharsis. I get a very similar vibe from The Process of Belief, but of the opposite polarity. It's not an angry album. It's a sympathetic, reminiscent album, an album that celebrates the human agency that gives us both the capacity to think for ourselves and the capacity to suffer*. I hesitate to say this is one of their best, I wouldn't place it top three, but it's absolutely one of the most significant in their history. *I just realized that that sentence describes just about every BR album ever, never mind me.

Have you been to the desert? Have you walked with the dead? There's a hundred thousand children being killed for their bread And the figures don't lie they speak of human disease But we do what we want and we think what we please Have you lived the experience? Have you witnessed the plague? People making babies sometimes just to escape In this land of competition the compassion is gone Yet we ignore the needy and we keep pushing on Keep pushing on This is just a punk rock song Written for the people who can see something's wrong Like ants in a colony we do our share But there's so many other fuckin' insects out there And this is just a punk rock song Have you visited the quagmire? Have you swam in the shit? The party convention and the real politic The faces always different, the rhetoric the same But we swallow it all, and we see nothing change Nothing has changed This is just a punk rock song Written for the people who can see something's wrong Like workers in a factory we do our share But there's so many other fuckin' robots out there And this is just a punk rock song Ten million dollars on a losing campaign Twenty million starving and writhing in pain Big strong people unwilling to give Small in vision and perspective One in five kids below the poverty line One population runnin' out of time Runnin' out of time This is just a punk rock song Written for the people who can see something's wrong Like ants in a colony we do our share But there's so many other fuckin' insects out there And this is just a punk rock song These figures don't lie they speak of human disease But we do what we want and we think what we please One in five kids below the poverty line One population runnin' out of time This is just a punk rock song This is just a punk rock song This is just a punk rock song

Bought this in 1996 when I was 12. Ironically, with money I got for Easter. LOL! This might be nostalgia getting the best of me, but it's definitely a top 5 favourite BR album for me. I think a lot of people don't like admitting it cause it's missing Brett's amazing songwriting and it's on a major. Leaving those two things aside, I think Greg really stepped up his songwriting to make up for Brett's absence. Brian Baker's guitar work rules too. It doesn't necessarily have a song that stands out in the way that Stranger Than Fiction or Recipe does, but it flows way better overall. It's a more consistent listen than those two other records imo.

I put this one over Suffer but that's just me. The songs here are just better, especially Them and Us, Empty Causes, Victory, and Come Join Us. Many put Suffer as their favorite but to me it's like group-think, you have that opinion just because. Bad Religion released one of their best with this one. Most BR-albums from Atlantic are so and so, with this one as an exception.

I completely love this album and been coming back to it recently. When this came out in '96 I was already a fan. I love the Rick Ocasek production, it is so bad ass, everything sounds great: drums, guitars, vocalsi wouldn't say it sounds to polished. I would rather choose the word powerful. And the songwriting, man, this shit is so real, even today. One of the best bunch of songs ever to grace BR album. I feel that Gregg put all his effort to prove he can make a damn fine album without Brett. It is certainly not their best, but it is up there.

I wonder what is the people from the cover doing now? And how did BR pick them? One day I'll make the documentary.

Отличный альбом, знаю и помню его. Это 1996 год. А вот на конце была немецкая версия песни Punk Rock Song , а вот здесь ее почему то нет.
