Why stop half way on a section that ends waist high, like he does? So much quicker and easier to just finish on down to the frame, and you lose nothing in the quality of the job after detailing, which you have to do either way.

Your employees never know how much work you have booked for the month and the months ahead. Sometimes they quit thinking you don’t have enough work for the next weeks and months because they don’t know the schedule you have in place they out think their self into another job in later wish they stayed this happens a lot sometimes in the beginning of the season you knock out a bunch of work and then you get slow and that’s when you lose your good people and then you get piled with all the work you had planned and have to start fresh with new employees this is very popular in the window cleaning business

So, when I try to use a swivel on a pole, I have trouble with controlling the squeegee up high, so I have to do straight pulls. How do you control a swivel on a pole? Steve, I was with ya....UNTIL 3:12. LOL, guilty as charged sometimes on the very bottom transom window. If the frame is clean, I will hit it with squeegee after. It's a habit ...like detailing (WITH ONE FINGER on the huck!) You speak like someone who does a lot of commercial and it shows-- good stuff and I hope people watching pay attention. I would do those jobs about the same exact way. Efficiently. One trick I've grown to like it after you mop the window, use a Huck towel to hit the top of the sill-- when you stick it (Again, I use a Ledger so I always have that gap to close out the sills about 95 percent of the time) you will not leave a line and detailing is at a minimum. I do cutups that way as well instead of the motion (what everyone calls fanning I guess, I say motion or S move), depends on the windows. Great video man
@SteveOthewindowcleaner
@SteveOthewindowcleaner 5 жыл бұрын
Yea totally depends on the glass as far as what techniques i use, on cut ups I use to fan them but now I hardly do them inside cause I hate it so I send the minions inside and do the outside with WFP LOL But the technique of wiping the top before doing a straight pull helps a lot, fanning on small french panes can leave a lot of marks behind especially when looking at the glass when the sun is shining through. This video was a fun one to make.

I agree you lose the silky smooth glide in 8 hours of washing, but in my experience, there is absolutely no detrimental effect until sometime around the 40 hour mark. At that point you have to start applying extra pressure, then start leaving streaks, etc. But 4 or 5 days works just fine, and now at around $6 a pop, that's really cutting into your profit unnecessarily. But that first-day smoothness really does keep momentum rolling, I get it, to a point...
@Shane_TWC_Ninja
@Shane_TWC_Ninja 10 ай бұрын
@@johnboehmer6683 I think it all depends on the brand rubber you use also, the facelift last forever but the black diamond is only really good for a day or 2 depending on what’s on the windows, paint chips, big grime, somethings with chip the rubber causing it to leave a very thing line but I’m a perfectionist and the money you make on 1 average size house will cover your rubber cost for most the season if not all of the season. So it all depends on what you charge per window and what type of rubbers you use. Thank you for knowledge i appreciate it. 🤙🏼

When you do storefront windows whatever your prices it should average from $50-$100 an hour when you average out all your store fronts and when I say 50 that is your minimum did you try not to go there you should go 90 to $100 her our store fronts can be harder to get that kind of money I see if you’re in the area we have a lot of people competing when I first started my storefront I had 20 window cleaners with in one month there was three window cleaners me and to others another words I knocked out all the wannabes in only the professionals stayed in business you always want professionals and you want to knock out the wannabes they don’t belong in the business

The only thing I hate is the towel the pole to get the upper drips from the frames. I actually prefer the Unger microfiber pads. Never use them to clean the window but to absorb those drips and after everything's done I go over them with a towel to dry them so I can reuse them. My company claims it makes us look unprofessional but I'm using it for a single purpose not to cut a corner and clean it's it.

You can talk all day about how to clean a window but basically it's not rocket science. Seriously don't loose sight of the fact that the end goal is to "clean the window". Does it really matter about going into the ridiculous fine details of how ppl prefer to do this! Obv not! Solution on, solution off, detail, and check window afterwards all in the quickest possible time. The method dosent matter as long as the window ends up clean. Get the job done and move on to the next. Don't get wrapped up in the fine details. It's your job/business with the goal of making a living. Like I said... On off detail, check move on. Simple as that

This keeps the price in the industry where it needs to be you should be burning between 90 and $100 an hour when you average it out per hour whatever it is you charge per hour it should be between $90-$100 an hour this will allow your company to grow to your dream withoutSo many problems like can’t afford marketing can’t afford your vehicles your insurance your payroll never ever go below $50 an hour that’s on survival get through a hard time price that’s all that is get you through the hard times so you can get back up to 92 $100 an hour any less than that you’re stepping backwards I have 40 years in the business I know what I’m talking about

You teach employees they spend a couple hundred dollars on their own equipment and they start their own business they end up doing their family friends and then they’re out of business because you didn’t teach them how to do marketing at least the part you don’t show them they understand flyers but they don’t understand the rest so you got highly trained people out of work teaching their friends which become your competitors and you’re wondering how they acquired similar skills will you train people to become trainers

Hate when other WC'ers pull the water of the bottom of the frame with their squeegee. Ruins a perfectly good rubber dragging it across metal. Use your damn towel or sponge.

That's why I have a mini squeegee for that purpose I keep on a hook in my bucket. I get all the sills at once and catch the runoff with my scrubber.

The name of my business end with ___ window washing. I know people fight over the difference and say cleaning is superior to washing. I say hogwash....lol have you recently washed your car? meaning cleaning the exterior of the car. Did you wash your clothes? Did you wash the dishes? when someone sees me cleaning window they say most often to another oh a window washer. Yelp has more requests for window washing rather then cleaning.
