More classic engine cranking...An interesting aspect to watch and learn about. Thanks Chad and Jolene. Thanks for your honesty about your work and what you think about it...Always moving forward perfecting your craft. I like how you bring your specialist friends in to help you in areas you know less about. Smart business sense on your part, in your car building approach. It is great to have good friends to work with... I can see why you pay close attention to spending quality time with one another outside your work. Intense hours finding your way-your path. No suspension on the race car? Really? I don't understand why. I guess I'm a little slow in understanding your reasoning. I mean no disrespect in saying that. Us older folks know how to read a clock if you know what I mean.

Hello, I stumbled onto your video yesterday. I don't know why you are called Bad Chad . For what I have seen so far . Your work ethic is awesome and you are an inspiration to others . You are living proof , you can't tell a book by it's cover . You have a wonderful relationship with your lady. I wish you both many years of happiness together . I don't work on cars , I am fasinated by how you solve problems and carry on . You are also a master craftsman . I can't wait to see your wife drive the Bugatti . Take care . I had a 40 Plymouth coupe when I was young, many years ago .

It just needs a little more in depth going over. Making sure the timing and firing order is correct and a good carb cleaning. It will run!

That flat head runs perfect .Good job Chad and John. Hats off to whom ever rebuilt that engine. That much oil pressure no click or clang ! Rock on 😁

Well, you did it again. Bringing John is was the right move, he was so calm and patient and then it fired right up, i was smiling just like you were. Dang it was so smooth and just might be a heck of runner. Too bad we can't find a Cam, headers and nice intake with 2 or 3 carbs. That will really fit the dang Cab Over perfectly too. So happy for you guys. I was worried about the truck and where it was going, but i feel like now you show its purpose with the race car. Just great stuff. Thanks, Dennis

Never ceases to amaze and frustrate me as guys crank and crank on some engine- usually with a half charged battery. Step 1- Check compression- if your cylinders are under 70 # it ain't gonna run Step 2- Check for spark- if the plugs don't spark it ain't gonna run Step 3- Check for fuel- rig up a tank that will gravity feed the carb so you don't have to worry about old fuel, rusty tanks or bad fuel pump. Step 4- If you have compression, spark and fuel, then static time the engine by hooking your test light to the negative side of the coil, turning the engine by hand toward TDC- the light will go out when the points open, showing you where the timing is- move the distributor so the light goes out about 10 degrees before TDC- at the same time note the rotation of the rotor and check your plug wires for the correct firing order.
@gordandcolleenkerr77603 жыл бұрын
if the firing order was wrong it would be back firing out the top of the carb
@oldschool19933 жыл бұрын
@@gordandcolleenkerr7760 We'll see when they try it. Of course if they do the correct procedure, it should start right up, but then the video would only be 5 minutes long and we wouldn't get to see Chad running back and forth for another 55 minutes.

Nice to see your motor choice started and ran well …… sorry you did not use the flathead, but fully can see why time wise. Nice to see the progress on the frame - that looks like a GREAT choice to use! Hope the transmission and rear end will work for a “gasser race car” but suspect you may need some changes there if speed is a concern. Enjoying watching the progress!

I'm old but don't know much about flat heads don't know how much you can build them up be interesting watching from ohio
@i8ntnuts3 жыл бұрын
@Jay Shotwell I could be wrong but I don’t think the Hup received a lot of attention by hot rodders. There’s probably very little Speed equipment that was ever made for it. I’m sure the Ford flathead V-8 was the king of the road back then. They are still popular with many people even to this day. I wouldn’t be surprised if you could build the Ford flathead from the ground up with all aftermarket parts. I think Chad will be able to meet all his goals with this six cylinder Hup. Did you see his face light up when the engine started? They are having a good time. Can’t ask for much more than that.
